I've always wanted to try using some sort of Drum Pad machine with an MPC to allow me to get funkier and finer control over my dynamics. I finally bit the bullet and bought the Nord Drum 3p after watching @Red Means Recording video using it, thanks Jeremy.. Wow! Why haven't i done this sooner? Its so fun to get creative rhythms especially with unquantized recording on the MPC.

  • 08:00 "Messed up on that one... Whatever!" My lesson for the day.. Instead of getting stuck for 30 minutes trying to perfect every small detail... No more! Thanks Ricky!!!!!!!!
  • I learnt why a lot of people love hardware. Especially when you have all the outputs connected and the DAW as a mixer. Thanks
  • Hell yeah dude! I'm stoked to see you enjoying it. It's a really special piece of kit.
  • You should considering putting "That's Cool" on some of your merch.
  • My dude, you should be making old school jungle with those samples ;)
  • "I have to start doing something about volume levels" Was litterally preparing for you to play some stupid loud first sample at this point. Your reactions are priceless.
  • You never know what to expect from a Ricky Tinez video, always love going through these adventures
  • @zordlord
In case you didn't know this, you can save the default for Drum Buss at -6dB and any other adjustments so that way you won't have to deal with the gain boost it immediately gives off. Always love the content you put out :)
  • 4mins in and you've basically made the intro to Pacific State. Haha! Nice one!
  • @innerpull
YES! Thanks for making this, Ricky. I nabbed a 3P a while back and I’ve been wanting to do this with my 1010Music Blackbox. Great to see it all implemented to get my head around it better.
  • It's amazing how emotional this entire track you made feels, and it was all sort of made spontaneously.
  • Eeeey! Stop showing the nordpads to people the price will go up and I need them! You villain!
  • Thanks for taking us on this journey. Would love to hear your thoughts on the Platform specifically, but also generally about ergonomics, space-related workflow, more permanent vs. swap-out pieces of your setup. Cheers
  • I have been dreaming of that nord 3p for a while already, that + mpc seems really nice combo. Not only for the nords pads, but for its great drum synth
  • I love a lot this video, man that setup is sick, love the fact that all the line out of the mpc are linked to different tracks on ableton and the drum pads are a so good idea to add that dynamics in a funniest way( and also faster way if u get used i think) thx for ur content! one day i will but an mpc for sure, rn i have an sp404 and a mpk and it's so good for me! I used to watch ur videos to get started with beatmaking months ago so thx a lot man for ur videos, keep going!
  • @555atU
The Nord Drum is awesome. Glad you got it. You are really good at getting sounds that fit nicely together. Another great video man!
  • @SoundBoy
This sounds like a song I would have heard on 1080 Snowboarding.
  • I love the way he says “there’s nothing to be learned here”, but it’s actually been my biggest tutorial so far. There’s always a lot to learn
  • Thank you for the knowledge that you keep on sharing.. (and of course, the good vibes!)
  • Good to see your process live; as always, Ricky. Greetings from SF down to LA; hope you’re all doing well!
