Along with the famous diminuendo at E6 I thought it would be complete if Callas had finished the Aria with a high F - so I thought I'd make it true through a little audio 'persuasion' :p

  • Ayer, 2 de diciembre de 2023, hubieras cumplido 100 años!! Felicidades Diva Divina, La Callas!! gracias, qepd.-
  • With all due respect, I don't think Madame Callas would have appreciated her voice being manipulated. She was an intense purist and perfectionist. Just my unsolicited opinion.
  • First of all, I don't know how you achieved it, but that high F was amazing. If I hadn't read your intro I would have believed it was real. As convincing as the high F was however, I believe the actual performance can't be improved upon. In particular, the 16th notes leading up to the high Eb, then the diminuendo, followed by the descending chromatic scale, followed by the ascending notes leading up to a breath (finally!) before the repetition of the melody; well, nobody else does, or did, anything even close to that. Some sopranos can sing higher notes, some can perhaps sing as long without taking a breath, perhaps some could sing the 16th notes just as clearly, I don't know. But I think many would agree that this performance was astonishing, and, most importantly, it was beautiful and artistic. Callas was first and foremost a musician (many may not realize that she was an accomplished pianist). I think you can hear her musical intelligence in her singing. Ultimately, in performance, her musicality and dramatic interpretation became one and the same.
  • The most delicate, the most radiant, the most stunning voice in the world.

Mariella running to Maria's aid -- this had not been seen yet. But having to intervene on a recording of the Divine, you made the best choice. 🙂
  • How wonderful! She would love you for doing that. Who knows, perhaps on one of her braver nights she might have tried and nailed it!!! R.I.P. she left us 35 years ago yesterday, and the gap has never been filled. Brava per sempre!!!!!
  • I imagine Callas hiting a F more 'forte' than this. Well with the first E, who needs a F at the end?
  • My comment is not about "persuasion" - it was fun. But wanna say this. I know Callas very well (have everything she has ever recorded), and she has so many qualities and this is a good example of her singing. What really impresses me is the total control of her voice, f. e. 1.55-2.01!! After what she did from 1.40 - 1.53.? omFg
  • Lol I love how you hear something like a ship's foghorn underneath the high F. Hilarious.
  • ❤❤❤❤❤❤ The most beautiful voice of the twentieth century!!The whole universe in one voice!!!!LA DIVINA FOREVER!❤❤❤❤
  • WOW.... That was something else! Never heard Maria sing "Ah non Giunge" better!

@Josquinquin Allegedly she could sing up to G6 in rehearsals with the same thickness of voice, so yes, she probably could have done it in her early days - her vocal prime!
