I was able to buy this monitor when it was discounted for 729$ plus i had a 175$ gift card with amazon so the monitor before tax cost me only 554$. I knew this was going to have the old gen 1 screen. The text fringe doesnt bother me at all as im the distance to where its barely noticeable. Plus with the 3 year warranty this was a no brainier for me. The X version coming out while has a 2nd/3rd gen did not give me a reason to wait cause its not enough of a difference to justify it more likely costing 200-300$ more if going by speculations. 2/3 gen will still hit true black 400 or peak 1000 like 1st gen so i think this is the best for the price.

So the 341CQP indeed has the old subpixel structure. Sad news, was about to jump for one few days ago, glad I refrained myself. Any news about the 341CQPX ? Was supposed to launch at the end of April and its already 25th :))

Would love to see your thoughts about the LG 38WR85QC-W or any 34” IPS monitors for office work and casual gaming.
  • @roryodonnell
Waiting for larger ultrawide oleds. 38 inch at 1600 would be welcome. Even larger at 2160 would be ideal.
  • @nizzen2
    I can't wait for 34" 3440x1440 360hz oled :D Have Alienware 34" 175hz oled now
  • @crm484
Just ordered this monitor cant wait to see the oled quality

I know a lot of people won’t be running at 60hz but for console gamers it’s a different story. It’s interesting how this model and the 27 inch have such high input lag at 60hz. While the 32” has very little.
  • Just see this pop up on Amazon for £798 so I thought I'd double check this was definitely the newer model. It's a shame it's the older panel, but for £798 it's pretty tempting
  • I do feel that even DP 2.1 is barely keeping up with the raising monitor uncompressed bandwidth needs. HDMI 2.1 is quite slow by now. I would hope the display connection specs to outpace the needs.

It's realy nice to see the arrivals of ultrawide 34" monitors with a refreshrate of 175hz plus wide gamut, which I don't have on my Acer Predator 32" and I find pretty disturbing. The refresh rate is high enough to not see any flickering anymore. I have however seen a review of a 540hz screen which is a serious step up in experience, described as looking through a window instead of looking at a monitor. At this refresh rate a human does not see any ghosting anymore. There is no real difference between 175hz, 240hz, 360hz. The magic seem to happen above 500hz. This monitor has still many disadvantages, having a 1080p 24" TN panel. But I guess/hope monitors like the MSI MAG 341CQP with 540hz refresh rate aren't that far away anymore.

I have a Samsung Odyssey OLED G8 for something about 5 months and recently bought this MSI MAG 341CQP. Have made some side by side tests few days ago. Didn't you mention that in gray and near black scenes sometimes 341CQP has some noise, like heavy filmgrain effect? And in Windows HDR Calibration at black calibration section in 0.005 (one click right from 0.000) point gray image appears soo bright, like more than five clicks on Odyssey G8. And thats why i think in games like Returnal almost none of blacks (overbrighten image).

Thanks for this and other reviews on this year's new oled. I am currently waiting for the MSI MPG 341CQPX review, will you be able to review it only when it goes on sale (probably in August) or can you possibly do it earlier? Because I noticed that some small MSI partners have already gotten it and have done their reviews on youtube I'm really looking forward to a review from you including. Tired of waiting for this model because 240 hz is really better than 175 hz. And I'm looking at MSI 271QRX periodically because I'm tired of sitting on my slow VA from xiaomi. Though I realize I'm too used to the 21:9 format and am unlikely to buy a standard 16:9. Too bad only MSI long enough to release this model on 240 hz, 21:9 format :(
  • @The_Noticer.
Are there any QD-OLED panels that dont have VRR flickering? What do I have to look for to get one that doesn't suffer from this. I am using an AMD GPU, if that is relevant.
  • @_shogun_gaming_
any noticable difference between the 342C and 341CQP versions? i just recently bought the C version, didnt know there was a "newer" version on this monitor
  • @abaohu2925
Nice review! May I ask how to choose between MEG 342C and this monitor if the prize is the same ?
  • @GothicTech
MSI MAG341CQP vs AW3423DWF vs MO34WQC2 which would you go for ?
  • @GODzilla_FH
Do you have an opinion on true 10bit versus 8bit + FCR? I'm trying to decide whether to... a) Use the monitor with 144hz + 10bit HDR over DP b) Use the monitor with 175Hz + 8bit (FRC) HDR over DP or maybe even c) Switch to an HDMI 2.1 cable I'd appreciate any advice. :) Thanks in advance.
  • @ChaosBG_
Hello, i received this monitor yesterday however I am noticing some screen flickering? Seems to be doing this through SDR and HDR with virtual sync on. It come and goes, but its really annoying, any advise on this? Thank you
