HEAVY FIRE Two Alarms Neptune New Jersey Structure Fire 2/6/24

Monmouth County - Neptune Township - 1202 11th Ave - Two Alarms

Around 12:20 PM Neptune got a call for a reported house fire, caller said smoke and flames were coming from the house. First arriving officer confirmed the heavy smoke & fire and quickly requested the BOX Alarm assignment. 34-74 career staffed engine was first due and stretched a 1.3/4 line into the home attacking the fire. The first due truck Tower 83-89 was going to the roof to vent and open up. Crews reported inside the fire was running the walls of the home from the basement up and fire quickly started to vent the 3rd story and roof. Crews backed off the roof and the second alarm was transmitted. More lines were stretched inside and out to put the fire under control. Second alarm companies arrived on scene and helped with overhaul and opening up some hot spots. Nobody was reported inside the house. According to News 12, three fire fighters sustained injuries and one was transported to JSUMC. The condition of the FF is stable. No other injuries were reported. Crews were on scene for around 2.5 hours.

    I love the idea of the IC having a drone at his disposal at the Command vehicle so he can conduct his 360 remotely.

    So why didn’t they spot that tower ladder in a position that it could be used on arrival? I know everyone has their opinion on vertical ventilation, but if the decision to do it is made, why not do it as safely as possible? That is a steep roof and a long way to the ground.

    It would be dangerous to climb on a roof like that if there was no fire at all. That situation looked like an extreme disaster about to happen.

    Nice job! It’s tough to get a handle on fires in balloon construction. Good aggressive coordinated attack, no “hittin it hard from the yard”

  • Ballon Frame structure if you get an electrical fire say in the basement call the fire department ASAP once these things get going forget about it I’ve seen it happen plenty of times
