A wise person once said, “Don’t f*ckle with Shuckle.”

For Phoebe: her lead Dusclops does always use Protect until the first turn you use a move. Key word, until. If you open the bag and use a useless item, like a pokeball 10 times, you can burn all protect PP as she will use it over and over until you attack. Funny enough I did this challenge my senior year of high school but gave up around the weather institute. I remeber the reason for me stopping was that I was getting bored of doing the same thing ever battle very slowly. So good job JRose! I respect the commitment.

Cool little mechanic: at 34:21, Vigoroth gets taken out by toxic damage, and since it dies to a passive effect, the game reads that as Slaking’s first turn in battle, so its first ACTIONABLE turn is being read as its second, which is why it looks like it’s loafing around on its first turn
  • Somehow I get the feeling this isn't going to go as well as Gen 2 did for Shuckle
  • Bide in gen 3 actually got standardized to 2 turns of bide guaranteed instead of 2-3. Fun fact, In gen 4 it got a +1 priority bracket; making it much scarier imo

This is a whole actual feature film. Borderline sanity. I love it.

18:01 you know the situation is dire when Rock smash is the best move you have access to.

This video has come to at the perfect time for me, as I was feeling down, Jrose videos always makes me feels better

The „Impossible Challenges“ are my favorite videos from you, the uncertain outcome makes them interesting and the lengths you have to go through to achieve victory

Just saw JRose beat Watson, it's insane how many of these battles Shuckle is winning on single-digit HP on the lucky runs. JRose is one tenacious shuckler!

I love Shuckle, he's such a cute little dude. playing with a Shuckle is such a different experience from playing with a normal pokemon. he is just so unique in just about every way.
  • Game freak just really loved having rock types as the first gym. Gen 1 and 3 really jamming you up
  • Might be buried by now but there is a good way of levelling up your Pokémon in the day centre. If you choose the Acro bike and then head to the mud slide thing above the desert (normally you need the Mach bike to go up it) you can just keep something pressed against the "Up" button/key and you will repeatedly move. You can leave this going overnight or whatever and will max out your level no problem.

Jrose always comes in clutch! Been going through a rough time and nothing makes it better than a new Jrose video!
  • @CarliVala
You, sir, are insane. The amount of patience and tolerance required to actually beat this kind of challenge must be huge. Massive respect for doing this! Oh, and getting Leftovers the long and legal way, too!
  • @willcooper8028
I really love the idea of moving past red and blue, like I adore the red and blue content but throwing in some gens 2-5 playthroughs now and then would be pretty cool

Just a heads up as someone who did a Feebas Diamond/Pearl solo run since you mentioned you're doing one near the end for Platinum: As someone who did that same thing years ago, it's almost a necessity to use an egg move (Dragonbreath) because of the changes made to Struggle during Gen 3 -> Gen 4 that make it damn near impossible to use a Feebas that only hatches with Splash; the Feebas with an Egg move was my second attempt. Instead of dealing recoil damage based on how much damage you dealt, you simply lose ¼ of your health every time you use it. I’m guessing they did this because of Wobuffet – two Wobuffet locked into battle with Leftovers was a huge problem in competitive Pokemon in generation 3 but I digress. Since it’s your only means of damage for Feebas until Level 15, it becomes a major problem, especially given how frail a level 1 Pokémon is, let alone one with such awful stats. And since I wasn't using not using items in battle, not even against wild Pokémon, this makes it considerably more daunting than it would have been compared to any of the past generations. In the first two routes, there’s only one Pokémon that you can burn Splash PP against without risking being knocked out against, Kricketot, who has Bide and Growl. Kricketot can only be found at night which isn’t that big an issue since you can just change the clock. The bigger issue is that it learns Bide which is pretty hard to avoid. While you can try to flee, since Feebas is only level 1 and the chances of fleeing Kriketot or any other Pokemon are based on speed, it’s unlikely that will succeed and this is even further compounded by the lack of resources one has at the start of the game, let alone how few one will have going forward. It’s all a matter as to whether they use Bide before getting KO’d/before Growl lowers your attack to the point where you're dealing less than 1/4. And while you can always try to run until you succeed and face a Bidoof or Starly, it’s not like the other local Pokémon will be much easier to beat even if you do have Struggle and full HP. Both of them possess the move Growl which will lower Feebas’ already meager attack even further.
