Why Christians Shouldn't Listen To Secular Music

YESSS!!!!......come thru with the truth sis! I gave up secular music at the age of 16 when the Lord lead me to EX Ministries and their Truth Behind Hip Hop series. Now, at the age of 26 you wouldn't believe how Christians find it hard to understand why I do not listen to secular music. I am also cautious of even some the "gospel music" out there as well. Much needed video.

This...Is...Everything! I can recall when I was ADDICTED to the TV show Scandal, I didn’t miss an episode, I was even in a FB Group to converse about it 🤦🏾‍♀️ Chile! I recall the Holy Spirit saying to me How can you watch a show that goes against everything that your fighting for? How can you love a show that glorifies destroying marriages? I was stopped dead in my tracks! I never watched again. HOWEVER there are other things that I watch & listen to that this video just called to the carpet! Lately things that I hear such as old school songs that I’ve heard and sang hundreds of times are now “glowing” when I hear them. Words that I’ve sang and I’m like “wait, did they just use the Word of God for their boo? “Where I am weak you make me strong” SWV comes to mind. But there are so many! I bless God for this video and this truth that is challenging me on EVERY LEVEL! I won’t even get into detail about my experience with a Beyonce CD let’s just say demonic influence is REAL and it will have you hating everything about you! JESUS I BLESS GOD! Lord hear our cry! Please don’t let us be foolish any longer! Please let us take on Your Holy Wisdom to see what we consider minor and insignificant as what it really is; demonic! And omgee you hit the nail on the head! I didn’t even think about my “reactions” In my mind that are sooooo contrary to who I am! JESUS! Chile I know I’m gonna have to watch this 10 more times!

The final question should be: Does listening to secular music lead you closer to Jesus or make you farther away from Him?

The Holy spirt convicted me on secular music. I can no longer listen to it. It just doesn’t sit right with my spirit. I use to LOVE Kehlani… I use to listen to her every single day… but I asked myself.. what am I doing listening to a lesbian woman speaking on heart break?? The Lord doesn’t want us to stay stuck on “heart break” I found myself feeling sad when I listened to her music. It would just bring back memories of toxic ex boyfriends. I loved her so much that I purchased stickers and stuck them on my Hydro and laptop… little did I know the Holy Spirit was going to convict me on my stickers. I started asking myself… “Do I really love her that much? She’s not my idol but she sure looks like it.” I removed ALL MY STICKERS !!! I no longer listen to her or any secular music. I’ve completely changed my playlist and I couldn’t be any happier.

Stopped listening to hip hop when I figured out that my favorite rapper was a crowlian. Holy spirit convicted me to throw out my cds driving on the highway and never looked back!!! PRAISE THE NAME OF THE MASTER! ITS A WORLDLY BONDAGE!!! GOD BLESS YOU SISTER!!!

This is how I look at it. The bible says if your right eye causes you to sin, throw it out. If the music you listen to has cussing and and sexual and demonic messages, then stop listening to it. If your music causes you to sin or effects you in any way shape or form or affects your relationship with christ, then stop listening to it. But if it doesnt, then it should be fine

You convinced me. I tossed out my CD wallet away. And there is NO WAY I can buy anymore music because the CD store has closed

Agree. You really shouldn't even support the artist by buying their more wholesome stuff, because you're literally encouraging the progression of that filthiness, in my opinion...

I’m currently struggling with this and I don’t have friends hungry for Christ and I stopped and looked at this video and oh my goodness you shared some very important information. It’s a battle but I’m trying to let go and let God fill all my desires instead.
