IRL this is an almost impossible task, i know this more then i want to...From Kates perspective...If someone has the intention (the thought truns into action) of doing what Kate does, its almost too late...Either the person grabs the hold of herself/ himself and stops by herself/ himself (my case) or a person has a strong (positiv) emotional bond with you. But even then its like defusing a bomb without knowing anything about bombs at all. And every mistake sets it off...So even if you fail (in this game or IRL), don't be too harsh on yourself. Because you tried atleast to prevent it while others didn't had the guts to do anything other then spectating.
