There’s a lot to unpack with Rivian’s onboard route planner. It’s been a shit show road tripping this summer with it. Out of Spec has been very vocal this past month about how trash it is. You’ll have to skipped through 2+ hr videos to get the relevant info. 1st the driver’s screen is the EPA estimate so you shouldnt go off that while road tripping. Also there’s belief that Rivian is prioritizing their charging network which leads into a number of issues. Another nugget without going too deep into the weeds, go into the trip settings before your trip and adjust the “arrival range” setting I think it defaults at 60 miles. Very likely if that setting is not adjusted your trip will be unnecessarily prolonged.

Now is when I leave my obligatory comment on Rivian content - Rivian, please, be the first manufacturer to use Openpilot as your ADAS. I beg you.

I own a model Y and a long range (410 mile) R1T. I agree with Gjeebs on most of his observations. I would add that IMHO the Rivian has a better driving experience than the Tesla. Smoother ride and overall more comfortable to drive. It's a more refined ride. My Y feels kind of primative by comparison. Don't know why Elon won't make air shocks an option on the Y. Handling for a truck is remarkable. I'm a truck guy and I've owned several F-150s and a GMC. The Riv is solid. Test drive one. That sold me.

I made that trip from Buckeye AZ to Jerome a couple years ago on a single charge in my 2021 Mach-E. I think it was 272 miles round trip and I got back home with like 4% battery

I drove a 1500 Denali 1400 miles on Supercriuse and it was awesome! Never had to take over. Super smooth.

Just a reminder….low mode wears out tires prematurely on the inside and high mode wears the out prematurely on the outside. Very important to rotate tires at around 6000 to 7000 miles. Front tires wear out faster due to regeneration.
