If anyone is seriously concerned about the D&D movie affecting anything else in the world, I point you to 2000's abysmal D&D film that everyone in the world has completely forgotten.
  • DnD being called "under-monetized" is horrifying to me. By my estimation, One DnD seems to be a pathway for WOTC to go the way of Games Workshop: to make the full experience of the game so horribly expensive that the majority of fans won't be able to enjoy it. Me and my players are going to stick to 5e.
  • A new edition of D&D can't ruin D&D unless it can magically remove all previous versions from existence, including in our minds. When 4th was shown to be not what the D&D community wanted, people went back to 3rd and/or Pathfinder.
  • Your commitment to positivity is my favorite part of your channel. So many influencers are seduced by the click bait titles, but we all love dnd. That’s why we’re watching and making dnd content. So thank you Bob for always being positive and hopeful. We need more folk like you in the world
  • The only thing I'm worried about is that WotC still defines the default assumptions of new people at the table. In my experience every modification I make (especially removals) costs me in ease of player engagement. I hope that makes sense, Bob.

Thank you for remaining the chill and reasonable Bob that I so enjoy letting into my life.

Aww damn sorry I was a downer when you were trying to be positive. I am very excited about the movie though and it is definitely not ruining d&d :D

The topics of the surveys is an interesting one. One of my roles in the job I have is as a usability researcher, and that's a constant discussion between the feedback we get from surveys/interviews and the needs/abilities of the development teams

I like that you touched on the 80% satisfaction. my dnd group is 5 people in total, and we take time every 3 or 4 sessions to go over if anybody feels that there is a rule that isn't working for us or if we need to add something to keep consistency; we tried critical fumbles, for both PC's and NPC's, didn't enjoy it so we scrapped that. everyone do like the nat1 always fails, nat20 always succeeds one though, and have kept that (and unless you have a lucky feat you can't get past a nat1 with stuff like "reliable talent", but this is just our table preferring this. There is always a risk to fail, and there is always a chance to succeed). If one doesn't adapt rules to fit at the table one plays, I feel like for me it would take away a lot of fun from the experience. We are telling stories together, and using the rules and dice to create the scaffolding to build those stories on, if a rule makes it not fun to create the story or just adds unnecessary complications you can (together with the group) elect to not use that rule or adapt it to fit. the other dm in the group loves making really challenging encounters, but he also loves to reward creative play and will almost always go by rule of cool, so what if in RAW that shouldn't work, it made for a good story and that's why we are all here, right?

Love those dice! Bob really helped me through my Rime of the Frostmaiden campaign, my first ever campaign. Feels right to make important rolls with those dice.
  • @EMarkMoore
Good on you, Bob. You remain one of the most positive broadcasters I know in this lovely hobby of ours. Have a great gaming year!
  • @bonzwah1
I gotta say that I love you general demeanor and tone for your videos. its funny, because I think we both are very different rpg enjoyers, but I still watch every one of your videos because I enjoy the way you say what you have to say, even if a lot of it is for a game style and game preference that isn't that relevant to my tables.
  • @baristus
Thanks for keeping it positive, Bob!
  • Your positivity is contagious Bob. Keep these videos coming, the community needs things like this.
  • Bob, I have yet to see you get really miffed about anything!! You're so calm and collective and stable in your description and thoughts about everything. I am impressed.🌟 By the way, Thank you for all your advice last year and looking forward to this years wisdom. ...🎉I Wish you a fun New Year 🎉
  • @Wayaha13
I do wonder what happens with DnD Beyond, which our whole group uses pretty exclusively. We've bought the 5e content, will we still be able to use 5e or will the mechanics be forced to OneDnD? Or will 5e get the "legacy" tag that other retconned content has but can still be used? I hope that's the route they take
  • @malzdak6077
As always, great content and thoughts Bob. I really appreciate the level headed and rational approach you have taken.
  • THANK YOU BOB! 🤗 loved this video. Thanks for putting everything in perspective, and sending good, happy vibes out in the world. Also excited for the future of DnD!
