Find yourself someone who will look at you like Agad looks at Wei Yi.
  • @kkeiros
So Wei Yi basically steamrolled Dubov on those 2 games

Wei Yi has really broadened my understanding of chess.

Wei Yi for Agadmator is what Magnus is for Gothamchess now 😂
  • Wei Yi is so accurate even at rapid play level. This is couple by the fact that he has not been a regular at chess tournament for such a long time. Some people might not have even heard of him. However, if he continues with such performances, one can only describe the phenomena as hitting the chess scene by a thunderstorm, so sudden and subtle that the world will be taken by surprise.
  • Wei Yi is the matured version of dubov and alireza. He's too fundamental and accurate. I'd love to see his endgame strength, he'd need it to challenge magnus.
  • @xethnyrrow
Wow, Wei Yi just outright humiliated him being up 6 pawns. What a slap in the face.

I like Dubov a lot, but the quote above the board tells you all you need to know about why Magnus is on a different level than any other player. Now I’ll freely admit that Daniil is a better player than I, but he’s not a better strategic player. Magnus doesn’t play random moves; they just look random because he sees way further than anyone out there. Daniil looks at the board and sees a million tactics. Of course he understands strategic play, every GM does, but his strategic thinking is remarkably shallow for a super GM. Magnus looks at the board and he sees potential weaknesses in your position, that he can slowly exploit. When Daniil sets a trap, it’s a tactic that will lead to mate in 6 if you don’t see it. When Magnus sets a trap, he plays moves that may seem random, but they’re really forcing you to react in a way that will end up in you having to defend a worse endgame in 45 moves. Of course he doesn’t see 45 moves into the future, but he sees where the potential weaknesses are, and he’ll play moves that seem logical enough, but fairly incoherent, when he’s really diverting your attention to a different point, and then when he shows you his true intent it’s too late, and you can’t help but weaken your position in order to keep material balance, but by then you’re going to have to defend, and he’ll be able to leverage his activity and your passivity into a better endgame for him.

The words that convey the biggest criticism of chess: "Nothing new here, it's all been played before."
  • @krystian19619
Wei Yi at Tata steel form...🤫 It was a pain to watch Dubov being so "effortlessly" crushed in his favorite opening from both sides, auch!

#Suggestion Wesley So vs Alireza chessable masters losers bracket game 2 earlier today... Somebody was winning and some madness happened on the board and Some Sacrifices and then game ended by resignation
