Just TRY to tell me this Halo music doesn’t scare you!

Published 2018-01-03
In almost every single Halo production there’s one or more really creepy parts where the music just has to SPEAK of a dark, scary and haunting atmosphere! Now, the composers don’t Always get it spot-on during the part- many times, sadly, they fail. But every now and then they absolutely nail it! These four tracks are from just a few moments where they did just that.
Of every composer who’s ever written creepy Halo music I personally think composer Gordy Haab did it best in HALO WARS 2, AWAKENING THE NIGHTMARE. His haunting melodies like Fevered Dread and Ossified were just jammy-packed with hidden mystery, and spoke of the terrors of the Flood parasite all too well. However, that’s not to take away from the awesome work composers like Martin O'Donnell and Tom Salta did for their soundtracks. What Once was Lost from Halo Combat Evolved and Dewy Decimate from Halo Combat Evolved Anniversary (written by O'Donnell and Salta respectively) were two of the most iconic scary sounds you’ll hear in any Halo game period! I’ll go a step further and say that you’ll be hard pressed to find more haunting music in any production at all! That’s how good these three dudes were!

  • Halo has always had scary parts along the way, but what makes the parts truly haunting is often the music that was played during them. These are just four of those tracks. Enjoy, and have a nice day!

Ok, these horrified me. Next time though, include Lament for Pvt. Jenkins and alien corridors. Listen to those two in a room alone with the door closed and the lights off and you’ll understand.

Fevered dread is one of my favorite halo wars 2 tracks really sets in the terror of the flood while using some tribal instruments that really fit the banished
