Great to see you and this update Hawk! Great news that you are heading back to the trail as well. You're smart getting the pack weight down, I'm sure that will help a lot. Best of luck!

You got this! Slow is smooth, smooth is fast. The cloud cap is one of my favorites, what did you replace it with? What shoes are you going with? Getting your pack weight down should help a lot and the long summer days allow for slow steady hiking. Good luck out there!!

Hi Hawk. Farfar here. I too will be getting back on the trail on June 21, this time to to hike the MA section. I've made the decision to complete the trail in two years rather than one, giving up on my dream of a thru hike. It was shin splints that drove me to that decision, though I had always thought if any injury would take me off, it would have been my plantar fasciitis in the right foot. I completed DWG through NY earlier this month, will hike MA next week, will hike NH in July with a hiking parter, Second Change, will hike VT in August and the Smokies either in early August or in September. Next year I'll have Daleville, VA to the Shennies, most all of PA and finally Maine, finishing at the Big K. Good luck to you. I hope your feet hold up OK. Farfar - trailjournals.com/carl
