Nellie was where my Dad retired back in ‘72. I believe the ‘Birds were F-4s then, which was my Dad’s favorite plane. (He was not part of the demonstration team.) I miss that jet noise. I went to early elementary school at Manch, back when Craig Road was two-lanes and we had to cross a patch of desert to get to the school. That sand stung like hell on my legs! Love the Thunderbirds!!!! Love to watch their videos when I can.

I was on the Team a few years before this and it warms my heart to see our replacements doing it better than we did. You got the full brief, even got to help the crew chief. Pretty special treatment. Congrats.

Thanks for posting this, it was neat to see not only the thunderbirds but all the groups and people that come together to make everything work like a well oiled machine

Great inside look at the Thunderbirds!
  • Spent 8 years total with my air force. 6 years as a PMEL tech (nobody remembers that) and another two as a jet engine mechanic (or motor mac as we called it) with my beloved Colorado Air National Guard. Go Colorado Cougars!

Watching this was special for me! at 3:46 in the video, going through the main ramp doors, turning left into the Flight Equipment room which is special to me. My lithograph is hanging on the right side as you enter the room. The photo was taken in 2015 of Maj. Jason "Jaws" Curtis taxing out during a "Grey" launch at Buckley AFB during a practice sortie for the 2015 RMA Airshow. The photo was printed in 2015 and has been floating around various offices/rooms in the hangar ever since.

I've personally known many fighter pilots over the years and have never heard on have anything but praise for the crews that keep the aircraft flying. Also, in all the Aviation History books I've read, not one even slightly diminished the work of the ground crews.
  • Cool vlog behind scene how thunderbirds able to fly. I remember maintenance Monday days in Army

No offense but I ignored every word I heard in the last discussion because I was enjoying the glorious sound of the Eagles firing up in the background. I miss that

Pretty cool! I saw them in Latrobe PA a few years ago, loved it! Been hooked since. Glad you did a behind the scenes of the ones who do a ton of work but are not the pilot getting the Glory.
  • I had got to see them up close and personal at the Nellis AFB cool as hell
