I found an ABANDONED Plymouth Superbird in the middle of the desert

My suggestion is to get a hemi engine preferably the mopar heliphant 1000 HP power plant ! So much adaptability with the mopar out of the box kit and potential drivetrain selections will make an amazing Mopar resto mod vehicle. Amazing barn find! 15:04

Definitely a basic 1969 B-body with the Superbird nose and wing added. All Superbirds were hardtops but this car has the B-pillar and pop-out quarter windows. The taillights and rear panel are 1969 items. The VIN will give more details on what this vehicle was on day one, but what really matters is what you want it to be. No matter what you do with it, no purists will criticize you. It will be a great tribute car.

Emelia this is amazing! My two cents..... Definitely have the Outside look like race replica, hands down, best idea!! But Resto-mod.. fully updated interior, with creature comforts.. Either a compound turbo Hellcat engine or an updated Tech Hemi with twin screw Supercharger... And obviously that exhaust needs a roar.

We all know you're going to restomod it. Since it is not a real Superbird I say go for it. Hellephant with a six speed manual. Just needs the little bumps on top of the front fenders and the quarter panel scoops on the sides. The tail lights and rear window are going to be dead give aways that it isn't real but it will still be a fun car.

Wow, great find. I could see the exterior as a great superbird in a light blue and a white roof and wing. Make it look stock outside and in the interior. Monster the engine though..... what a perfect find. I would sit there too with a beer and look at it as well.

Its not a real Superbird though and is WAY rusted out. I'm a Mopar fan boy and would love to find a cheap Superbee or Superbird, but this one I gotta say, Good luck Emelia.
After you replace 75% of the steel, a Helliphant crate motor is my vote for powerplant. It's such a blank canvass, you can make it into anything you want. I'm interested in this build and can't wait to see how it finishes out.

1st clue was no chrome plates on the A pillars. 2nd clue was no scoops on the fenders. VIN would have either a U / V / R as the Super Bird only came with 440, 440-6 or Hemi. You could have bought a decent Satellite with floors, etc., and bought repo front cone and spoiler. You’ll have a fortune in this.

That was fun! Thank you for sharing that! My dad and I had a real cool barn find when I was in my early 20's. We got a 1959 GMC pickup and we fixed that thing and spent good quality time together on it. We fixed all the rust, repainted it, replaced the chrome, gave it a flame paint job, took out the old straight six and put in a healthy 327 with Edelbrock intake and carburator, got rid of the 3 on the tree manual shifter and put in a turbo 400 automatic trans with a narrowed Ford 9" rear. We later put a Ford mustang ll front steering and suspension on it. It was a really cool truck and a great way to spend time with my dad!

Keep it era correct and throw a Blown 426 Hemi with 727 torque flight behind it. Sweet ride Looking forward to seeing what you do with it.

What gives it away is the rear window. As much as I love that compound curve, it's just out of place on a Superbird (or Daytona). They had a more traditional backlight and a plug. I think you're better off just making it a nice Satellite resto-mod and selling off the nose and wing. Keep up the good work.

I just finished doing the rust on my old Mustang and it is always worst then what it looks ! What you see is only the tip of the iceberg ! I got it in the early spring and just finished removing all of the rust... Now rebuild time ! I dont even think I would do that again ! And the cables and wires where almost all shot... Have fun !
