I feel defeatist should've just lowered the attack stat by one stage rather than just outright cutting its attack in half.

It had way too insane stats to not warrant such ability + he has insane coverage and exp speed for pve

The idea of Pokemon with great power but negative ability to balance doesn't absolutely convince me, they turn out to have very few reasons to be used, even Slaking and Regigas, but Archeops received the same treatment of these two even without having their huge stats.

Archeops has still been quite a solid Pokémon over the years

He can OHKO anything before his health becomes lower than half. So i am sure it's quite balanced

When I was testing lineups for my pokemon black and white best team I kept using Archeops because he was so damn cool and strong. Unfortunately, as much as I didn't want to, I had to remove him from my final lineup for my video because that defeatist ability really dwindled his effectiveness.

The voice is great, and i never really used archeops in gen 5, because i was young and favoured the cool and edgy mons first and foremost

Eh, he could one-shot anything anyway, and he didn't lose his speed when below half HP So he could still finish anything

Archeops is my favourite Pokémon ever, it's only been overthrown a total once (thanks to me getting annoyed by defeatist) but I quickly came back to it cus it was just too cool. also i don't get why you said “Surely a Pokémon based on the archaeopteryx is strong right?” when archaeopteryx was a crow sized chicken that would probably make a great house pet.
