EVEN if you have been living under a rock - you would know about the grand Anant Ambani pre-Wedding celebrations where Anant and soon to be wife Radhika Merchant hosted an (estimated) 1000 crore pre-wedding bash in Jamnagar.... but they can afford to spend this much and 100 times more .... question is what lessons can an average Indian draw from this and what does an average Indian have to do for a wedding???

How much of your own / your parents wealth would you want to spend in a wedding ??
  • @gagasarkar227
Biggest lesson learnt from this recent Ambani wedding We should spend not more than 0.1% of our asset in wedding.
  • That’s the reason I like TATA. SIMPLE, HUMBLE and CHARITABLE.
  • Recently in our neighborhood a girl had a simple temple marriage without inviting anyone except her family members. I am really impressed by her move and it also conveyed a good message to our society. Thanks Deshbhakt for making this video and pointing out all the flaws in today's world. I pray for you and your well being. 🌱

My wedding was just simple total expenditure 10,000 rupees. And happily married so far. Blessed with two children. We must get away from this "ki log kya kahenge?" Trust me they will talk anyway, even if u spend lakhs and crores on marriage. Simple marriage is the must blessed marriage.

During my wedding my father was scared of society and kept repeating ki "Rishtedaar kya kahenge?" My simple reply was "Why are Rishtedaar even asking this question? If they are family, they will understand. If they are not family then it should hardly matter." This gave my father some strength and my wedding was done in mere 3 lakhs in 2018 in New Delhi. Food was one of our priority though, to be adequate, delicious, hygienic and vegetarian. At that time, minimum amount required for a average wedding was 10 lakhs.

Indian media has enough time to telecast wedding ceremony of Ambani but they don't have time to telecast the protest of students, farmers and women
  • Covid lockdown time was the best. No wasteful weddings.😂
  • The main Question lies why we spend too much, there can be two answers 1- to celebrate 2- to show off As far as it is too celebrate, it is okay because we earn to fulfill our emotional satisfaction along with basic needs

I feel proud to say that I opted for court marriage which costed only Rs. 5000. I would suggest people to spend maximum money on education of their children rather than wedding.
  • My mentor, college chaplain, showed me how he and his wife organized their wedding. His wife wore not a single piece of gold, no make up, simple low key hospitality. The wife is a gold medalist physician with no dirth of money. He showed me his wedding album to present it as an example for me to follow. This is what I respected, held in high regard and so found it quite sad how people look at how much gold is on display etc etc. But people are people, difficult to change, easy to get judgemental. I am so blessed to have had a mentor like Rev. Ninan Chacko.

Amazing episode! Hats off! A low-cost wedding is exactly what we did. 4 years ago, me and my husband love-married intercaste in court (with parent's blessings). No pre-wedding ceremony other than an at-home mehendi gathering and went to honeymoon within India. Threw a reception later, but it was nowhere near a grand wedding. Saved money on firecrackers, ghodi, DJ, prewedding shoot, Mehendi ceremony, Haldi ceremony and overseas honeymoon, to say the least. We chose to do that because for us only being together was enough, not how costly the celebration party is. Occasionally and especially while attending other grand weddings, I do wonder what it would be like to have a grand wedding but definitely no regrets. Our networth is very thankful for our decision.

Apart from Celebrities and Industrialists, media has a large impact on people to increase wedding expenditure!
  • @sakshamag007
i have my opinion that middle class see wedding as social status but rich people like ambani see wedding as form of publicity and building good relations with others
  • Much needed topic. It’s high time for the Indian families to reflect on these big fat Indian weddings. Indian family and friends’ circle is always big compared to western society. So one may invite a large number of guests, but cost can be curtailed on other extravaganza like variety and opulence of food, costumes, jewelleries, venue, useless return gifts etc.

The cost of nice quality cotton Tshirt at my local Dmart store is flat 99 and 129 rupees only, why spent 599 rupees (6 times higher cost) on buying Deshbhakt Tshirt. Hum kare toh chnga si tum kare toh danga si.
  • Azim Premji is i guess the most underrated and private industrialist of India, its only in such lists that i have ever seen his name, just read up on him now that his dad was invited by Jinnah to come to Pakistan during partition but they stated back in India, and now they are giving back to India.

This is what the discussion should be instead of the fanfare the media is doing today. People should look at their own worth and spend accordingly
  • @paramadey2864
This is a genuine problem in India. Thank you for making video on this topic. Your videos always have a huge impact on social media as you have a large number of followers. Therefore good to see you are bringing up such topics.
