Massively undervalued band. People who were into them were almost like in a secret club. Loved em.
-
In his prime he was basically untouchable for tone. just a purely magical singer.
-
Probably the finest MTV Unplugged session. The Killing Words is out of this world.
-
Rage For Order to this day is ahead of its time, Geoff Tates vocal performance on Neue Regal is absolutely mind boggling, a true master of his craft
-
At this point in his career, Tate was a GOD among men.
-
Easily one of the most underrated vocalists of all time. People sleep on Geoff Tate, but the power and finesse of his singing voice is incredible.
-
This is one of my favourite performances by Geoff. Damn he was just unmatched in this era, but then again the whole band were too.
-
Guess I'll be listening to Queensryche tomorrow at work. I remember when everyone was excited about Metallica, I was listening to these guys instead.
-
Definitely Beth Roars best descriptive analysis. Bravo. It “cuts” and “oozes” Thank you Beth.
-
Crazy how underrated they were. Fan since ‘84
-
what i hear... every single time he sings "i will remember"... its EXACTLY the same. perfection. amazing.
-
"Rage For Order" is such an underappreciated album. I think it was way ahead of it's time and has so many great songs as well as some of Geoff's best vocals. I mean, the guy is a natural baritone (like me) but can sing waaaaaay up there (unlike me). ;-) Cheers.
-
Beth (gets choked up there at the end) Me: "Every once in awhile Geoff Tate does that to all of us." Truly a transcendent voice!
-
Geoff in his prime was unmatched and people forget how great the other band members were...Chris was incredible on guitar and Scott was so undervalued as a drummer. Ryche n Roll as we used to say...
-
Geoff's voice is not talent, it's a GIFT
-
This is before autotune, kids. He's doing it for real with no edits or other bullshit. He's absolutely at the top of his and everyone else's game here. I mean, he's still doing OK now for being 60 but this is just transcendent.
-
A video from back in the day when MTV actually played music.
-
The first time I heard Queensryche was in '82 or '83. I loved the band but it was Tate's voice that really got me. His voice was so damn captivating. He just draws you in and you are mesmerized the whole time he is singing.
-
Beth, I swear you needed to see him live with queensryche. Late 80s and early 90s. Live, he is a God of vocal power. The band performed as clear as a cd
