Can a character be "too powerful"? Neuvillette character review & guide!

He's a godsend for ppl like me who HATE combat and want to get it over with as swiftly as possible (certified teapot main and mint picker here), but I get how he takes away the fun for ppl who genuinely enjoy being challenged. It's always cool to see how many different ways there are to play this game

100% the same - I love Neuvi but he's too strong for anything outside of the abyss to be any fun... D:

For someone who just recently started Genshin, a month playing; I pulled for him as my main DPS to clear most of what I need to, at least be up to date, and with unlocking most of the contents. I can see what you mean that he might not be fun in the long run, but I'm enjoying him now as I'm still just new and just getting the hang of things in-game. Also, with few characters to rotate/team up with, he basically can push me through all the content. Its also fun to try all the reactions that I can with him as my other characters are all over lol Hopefully the novelty won't soon fade.

I like Neuvi in the abyss and events. That being said, in the overworld, I let Furina's pets do the dirty work, since his 320% crit dmg is a bit overkill. PS: I went for his C1 for formalities for Neuvi+Furina combo

On his rerun I got his C3 and R1. he was C2 before and r4 sac jade. he is monstrously OP. you're right..floor 12 is like squashing hillychurls in overworld. But that's fine for me. I can be more creative in the second half and bring some less powerful characters that I like and enjoy and still clear. so that's something to consider.

When his debut banner released I was ready to pull or him simply based on the story arc & design, but then I entered the Trial & all the fireworks disolved into a damp squib. So while I will get him eventually he's relegated to the 4th last character I will pull for ahead of Venti, Lyney & Ganyu but behind Chiori & Shenhe. Who would have thought Ayato's boring combat mechanic could be beaten so completely.

I regret pulling for Neuvi, I don't need him really but influenced by the majority of his popularity. 😢

Mine is currently half built and i find that he’s quite fun though if i want to build him fully for the abyss i feel like he will become too powerful for overworld

The classic problem with DPSes is that you only need two of them, or one if you don't do abyss. New ones either end up replacing old ones, or they take turns depending on enemy resistances or for gameplay variety. I still might get him just because I've somehow accumulated a DPS for every element except hydro, but I don't know how much I'll use him. On the lore side, it's still funny to me how everyone assumed Neuvillette was the real archon and/or the one running the show and keeping all the secrets... only to find out that not only was Furina more on top of things all along, ultimately she wasn't the archon either, and now nobody is. Even after all this time, Genshin's plot still never goes quite where we expect.

The best thing about Neuvi, and why I pulled his C1 this rerun, is that he SAVES TIME. 💙 In Abyss, he breezes through his half so quickly, which gives me the flexibility to run a weaker team that I enjoy playing on the other half without struggling to 36 star. 😊 In domains, I get clear times of 20-25 seconds, which really adds up over time. He’s also great for a friendship farming team, carrying 3 unleveled characters through dailies 😅

I think you perfectly summed up why I don't want to pull for him. I always love the nuanced takes you give. ❤

Yeah, I also find myself using him less and less, although in Abyss he's a constant. But I think it's good - at least for long time players - to turn away from the "I main XYZ" concept and just play different characters, switching them whenever you feel like it. I have too many characters I like and switching parties even a few times a day is much more fun for me than repeating the same rotation over and over again. And having Neuvillette sitting in the backstage, ready to aid his help when needed, just adds to the sense of security. I knew I need him as soon as speculations appeared about him being a dragon. By the time I pulled for him I had no idea how strong he will be. And I never regretted pulling for him, even though now he's my single most expensive character in terms of wishes spent on obtaining him, his weapon, and in current banner also his C1, regardless how little I choose to play him. He is not anywhere close to be benched by any means.

I never pull for new characters. I wait for the re-run after the hype has died down and more is known from people using them. So, I just got Neuvilltte C0 and C1. He's great in the Abyss! I really don't absolutely need him in the overworld but I'm glad I have him.

The abyss has become so trivial that I try to clear it with 4 star meme teams now instead of the common overpowered teams. 😞

I believe that mHoYo expected the player to complete his SQ at 4.1 before going to AQ at 4.2, but this is not necessarily the case later developments

I got him a few days ago at 30 pity (not guaranteed) while trying to get Xingqui and Yanfei constellations! I’m ofc very happy about it because it was basically a free 5 star, but I’m not sure if I will play him often actually. His playstyle just seems a bit boring since you’re just standing in one place holding his charged attack while everything dies around you xD I’m still going to give him a chance tho, maybe I will enjoy him despite that :) And it’s always useful to have a strong character to clear abyss fast, because I really don’t enjoy that part of the game… the most important thing for me is that I like the character and also enjoy their playstyle, their strength doesn’t matter too much :D I’m an overworld player anyway, idc much about abyss outside of the rewards :3

was not believing he is so good,but non stop comunity praises make me spent 50 wishes for him {that much i was rdy to spend for him and was with little hope to take him},my luck activates for a first time in my pulling history so strong that i got him in first 10,have decent mare set put him with crit catalyst and omg on talents 5ish 70 lvl he is monster..everyone deserve to be bored of power sometimes ^^...

I love him in the abyss, outside he's too OP without another level upgrade to world opponents at least. Hey HoYo that's another suggestion, for those of us who want to can we raise our world levels again? I adored the wishing - we need to do that again, exercise for wishes! 🤪Also a grand time when you're forced to exercise to feed the wishing addiction perishes from lack of being able to use saurusnessNodders and saurusnessDisguise but you know I wanted them there
