CLIP DESCRIPTION:
When Ash (Ian Holm) tries to sever the alien off Kane (John Hurt), the blood that gushes out burns a hole in the ship.

FILM DESCRIPTION:
"In space, no one can hear you scream." A close encounter of the third kind becomes a Jaws-style nightmare when an alien invades a spacecraft in Ridley Scott's sci-fi horror classic. On the way home from a mission for the Company, the Nostromo's crew is woken up from hibernation by the ship's Mother computer to answer a distress signal from a nearby planet. Capt. Dallas's (Tom Skerritt) rescue team discovers a bizarre pod field, but things get even stranger when a face-hugging creature bursts out of a pod and attaches itself to Kane (John Hurt). Over the objections of Ripley (Sigourney Weaver), science officer Ash (Ian Holm) lets Kane back on the ship. The acid-blooded incubus detaches itself from an apparently recovered Kane, but an alien erupts from Kane's stomach and escapes. The alien starts stalking the humans, pitting Dallas and his crew (and cat) against a malevolent killing machine that also has a protector in the nefarious Company.

I like how natural the setting, the acting and the dialogue feels. I wish more present day productions went back to this vibe.
  • @silentreactor97
This movie is a classic , will always be one of the best films ever made!
  • @whouster
The Facehugger being revealed for the first time has to be the most horrific moment of the entire film. Incredible effort to make the thing look so real and organic. Discovering that it bled acid hardly lessened its horror. I'd love to have seen inside HR Geiger's mind, but on second thoughts, probably not!
  • I went to see this movie all by myself, aged 16. Scared the life out of me. Still love it 40 years on 🤩
  • @bigearedmouse17
Probably the greatest sci fi horror movie ever made. Even now after nearly 40 years it is still outstanding. Classic

This movie has aged sooo well! <3 <3
  • Parker: "It's got a wonderful defense mechanism. You don't dare kill it." All while chewing an epic wad of gum. What a legend.
  • @Xerruy
Predator: if it bleeds, we can kill it. Alien: if it bleeds, it can kill us.
  • For me this movie is one of my all time favourite films. It captured the terror and horror perfectly. The tag line "in space no one can hear you scream" is one of the most iconic of all time.
  • I'm so jealous. My Grandmom got to see Alien in theaters. She said it was an unforgettable experience, and everyone gasped when the acid started eating through the decks.
  • @Junk_Yogurt
I love how clanky, used and grimey the set looks in older movies like this and star wars, as opposed to newer scifi where spaceships looks too clean and sanitized

I was literally shocked when I heard this was from the 70s, I guess they do have great movies during that decade.
  • Alien and The Thing only a couple of years from each other is one of the best Sci-fi horrors I've ever been blessed to witness. The setting in these films is so good it sets the mood. I also adore the storytelling aspect of these films. Modern Sci-fi lacks these elements. It's so refreshingly inspiring to watch these movies.

I think this is a great scene, but it would get cut to hell in a modern film. And I think that's the problem these days, movies have to go so many places that they end up cutting out things like this. That's what I like about old films, there's scenes of people walking from one place to another, and looking at things for a while. I think it really helps with the immersion.

I'm 22 and majority of the movies I watched have great CGI and all the cool modern stuff. This movie was made over 40 years ago and it amazed me more than anything I've seen.

You don't dare kill it... Now THIS is how you make a damn scary movie!
  • I really loved how Parker mentioned how the Xenomorphs acidic blood was a perfect defense mechanism and that killing it would in its own way be a huge disadvantage for you considering it can eat through the ships hull, causing a disasterous decompression to the ship
