Let's meet our hosts!
- Jake Baldino (aka the Before You Buy Guy) is pretty much the most watched reviewer on YouTube across both Gameranx and his personal channel (youtube.com/c/JakeBaldino). If you're obsessed with Delorians, The Mummy and Pizza you can discuss that stuff with him directly over on Twitter: @JakeBaldino

- Lucy James is a Senior Producer at Gamespot and a Creative Producer at Giant Bomb. She's actually, like, experienced and credentialed and has real life skills and stuff, while the rest of the gang would be funemployed if the YT algorithm didn't kiss them for random, inexplicable reasons.

- Skill Up used to work at McDonalds but he got fired for skimming too many chicken nuggets. He says he regrets it since he hasn't had a better job since.

  • That transition at 4:50 of all the smiles fading into nothing was way funnier than it should have been
  • I know in my gut that a Gaben interview is an eventuality and I follow this podcast for that day.
  • Tip for Lucy you can change the function of the power button in the windows setting so that when the cat jumps on it it won't turn off! Had to learn several times myself
  • Alright, Lucy ranting about Snoopy in the beginning was adorable.
  • i know Jake said his Blockbuster night would be "crackin' a beer" but at first I heard "crack and a beer" 😂
  • Oh no Ralph started his Gacha game arc, once you drink from that poison well you never go back. I should know
  • Ralph's face when Jake admits to his pinching of the instructions.
  • 28:00 LOL, this is a hustle I remember all too well growing up. I remember convincing my stepmom to let me get metal gear solid 2, her seeing 17+ and freaking out thinking it was sex content or something, and the cashier came in like a total bro to tell her that it was basically just James Bond movie action violence 😂
  • Little Devil Inside It'll come out any day now. Any day now....
  • Ralph: I can't wait for these bleak games. Jake: I can't wait for this bleak game. Lucy: This game is silly and British and fun. Also, I can't wait for PoE2 myself. I never take time off for game releases, but I am taking time off for that.
  • Now I know, people like Jake are the reason I would always rent games and not have the instruction booklet!
  • The IT Crowd still slaps. "A fire... At a sea parks?" Gets me every time
  • So the kind of store that Ralph is describing, we used to have in the US! There was a place called Hastings, and they sold new and used movies, music, and video games! They also sold tons of nerd and hobby stuff like Legos, Nerf, disc golf, drones, models, manga. It was the coolest place ever, I'd spend hours there! Wish they'd come back!
  • space marine 2 had a leak and the gameplay looks amazingly fun
  • The GamePass "No Day-1 games" tier exists as a price anchor to push people towards the pricier tier with Day-1 games/
  • You guys are 3 of my favourite people on the internet. Absolutely love the podcast, love the chemistry you all have, it's such a joy to look forward to every couple of weeks.
  • The problem with game pass is their target audience. Assuming most younger gamers (17 and under) cannot afford game pass with the price hike and even younger college age kids that is a big ask to shell out twenty bucks a month for video games and what you are left with is the older millennial generation who are now in their thirties and have more disposable income which is the group I fall into but the problem is we are starting families on top of working 9-5 jobs and do not have the time to play that back catalogue of games. I canceled my subscription as a result of the price hike as I know I will not have time to play the one or two games I play now on game pass and purchased them instead. Ralph is right it is a great value if you have the time but I think they are pricing out a lot of people that use game pass. Had they split the difference to 15 dollars a month more would have been willing to pay that possibly. This subscription model was flawed from the start you either need double the amount of players subscribed they do now to make it profitable or raise the price and risk losing a huge chunk of the base you have built up.
