I went free agent to the Vikings in 2011. Signed for 50k, when I got my check it was around 27k . I ended up getting released and then having a hunting accident that kept me from going to the patriots. I was able to earn my masters degree while at THE U. it’s because of that and Gods blessing I’m where I am today. I am a commercial tire salesman with a 90k annual salary and I’m living better than I ever would have if I would have still been in the NFL. many of my former college teammates who went on to play for 7+ years are barely living better than they were when we were in college. Sometimes structure is better. Chad use to work out with us and preach the same things back in 2008. It really isn’t all what people see. Much love

30 for 30 broke is an excellent documentary.

Bravo to Unc and Ocho for talking about this. This stat is from Google: By the time they have been retired for two years, 78 percent of former NFL players have gone bankrupt or are under financial stress; within five years of retirement, an estimated 60 percent of former NBA players are broke. By shedding light on this subject, hopefully fans and players will realize just how serious it is to learn the discipline that Ocho was talking about.

Chad and Unc are telling it like it is! This is a lesson for ordinary Americans as well!

I respect Shannon for being a provider for his family 👏🏻👍🏻
  • Shoutout to Dennis Northcutt for looking out for Ocho! For a division opponent (he was a Cleveland Browns receiver) to take the time and effort to look out for another receiver is amazing. You’re a real one 💯
  • @joseph_M
These are the stories we stay for 💯

You were my Masterclass today! I teach HS Business courses and for my football players who will not complete school work because they say they don't need to know about taxes, financial literacy or business operations. Thanks for emphasizing discipline in finances which they dismiss its relevance. "How you do some things is how you do everything". Thanks for making my business lesson relevant today. I sincerely appreciate you two.
  • “I’m not going broke f*cking with you.” Tough 🤯❤🔥👏🏿👏🏿

I wish more young Black men knew about the power of COMPOUNDING INTEREST. When you put away a large amount of money and don't touch it for an extended amount of time, every year of earned Interest adds on to the previous year and expands exponentially! 📈
  • @treyjames1205
Shannon is dropping SO MUCH financial knowledge here. He invested 1/3 of his earnings and didn’t touch it for 20 years. That compound interest had to have been crazy.. He was probably making 70-100 k a year just off interest towards the end. He also pays taxes quarterly.
  • @tlamont7
    “I’m witcha when you right”😂
  • Like how he said family told his brother and sister don't worry about money I got you😢 real man family man
  • @rayj.9568
This segment is pure gold. The lessons of fiscal responsibility and not seeking to impress others is worth revisiting. Shannon's agent gave him some precious money saving advice.
  • @makepeaceu
This was so needed. Not gossiping like so many about other people. This was great.
  • @khrisbmusic6091
I enjoy when you guys talk about money and finances. It definitely helps me become more financially conscious
