A better ending to this: Cut to Light writing Perfect Cell's name down in the Death Note, but rather than waiting around for his death to happen, Light continues writing. We don't see what he's writing, however. Then, when he's finished, he turns around and walks away. Cell gets pissed that he's leaving, even though he asked him to leave (This may be because, really, he just wanted to kill the boy.) Cut to Light as he walks away, and he chuckles a bit as he looks down at the Death Note, and then we cut to the inside of the Note. "PERFECT CELL Killed by Gohan in the tournament"
