LCD and OLED are constantly evolving and getting close to each other.

One thing you have to realize is that LCD technology has evolved a lot since 2017 when the Switch released. Yes, OLED mostly is better than LCD, but for a launch, I'm okay with having an LCD so they can save on cost.

I think codenames create speculation which increase hype and potentially boosts the sales of the console because people are talking about something that is actually real from the source (Nintendo in this case) rather than people making stuff up based on nothing.

I used to never play my switch portably however, that changed this year when I started traveling more and moving to new locations. Now I mostly play it portably and it’s my favorite console of all time just based on the portability of it

If it's 1080p on an inch bigger screen, we're golden. LCD or not.

If you look at the fiscal year reports it shows that the LCD version of switch sold more, profited more than the OLED even though it was like 50$-$100 more.

The new Switch NEXT will use a new type of LCD I think it's made by Sharp

An 8 inch 1080p screen should be nice actually. If it's a mini led lcd it should even be capable of HDR.

as an older gamer that started with the original nes, im mainly in the tv only camp as well, we have a 65" lg c3 oled here and the colors really pop i love it, im assuming nintendo sees this as another way to resell the switch 2 after a few years, heres hoping they have an oled option at launch

I don't have a switch OLED because i already had a switch and the upgrade didn't seem worth it. But if OLED is available from the start id opt for the most premium option

Maybe the revised Oled model come out later. not all people want to pay &100 extra for a screen. and talking about the new Switch it will probably go toe to toe with PS4 and Farcry from PS5. which looks ok to me cause we barely have native PS5 games most are just upscaled PS4 games. just next switch needs to be a bit stronger than ps4.
