Video Description:
If you’ve ever had an outbreak of Shingles, you know how painfully debilitating it can be. On a pain scale of one to ten, with ten being the most severe, patients commonly describe their pain between a level eight to twenty, meaning the pain can feel Beyond severe, Beyond miserable.
Well, just a few months ago, I was unexpectedly Struck Down by the Shingles Monster, and YES! It was a beast!! This gave me the opportunity to experience firsthand what many of our patients go through. Honestly, it was an experience I never want to repeat.

Needless to say, this motivated Dr M & I to dive deeper into the research than we ever have on this topic.

Today’s video is important to everyone. It doesn’t matter if you’ve never had a shingles outbreak, because statistics show shingles will affect one out of three adults. That’s one third of the adult population, over 330 million people.

Lemon balm is THE BOMB for shingles. Coupled with L-Lysine, it can’t be beat. I used Urban ReLeaf Lysine & Lemon Balm Blister Soothing Gel (no connection to company) topically and both L-Lysine and lemon balm tea (yum!!) internally. Relief began immediately. Before I got the lemon balm products, I happened to have dried calendula flowers on hand. I made a tea with the flowers and dabbed the outbreaks with that. It was also quite helpful.

I had two former colleagues contract shingles as adults and both of them said that it was triggered by chronically high stress at work, so it was interesting to see this confirmed in your video

My singles were without visible blisters or redness. It took them two months to diagnose me all the time with pain. I started a heavy dose of B complex vitamin on my own after the third day I saw improvement in the pain.

  • I have low vitamin D levels, high cholesterol. My dog died in December and I got and a training a new German shepherd puppy. My sleep was disrupted for a couple of months. I am 66 years old. I’m in Week 6. The lessons are gone but I still have extreme fatigue, deep pain and itchy burning skin.

Bless you, Dr C! It is so unfortunate that you had to go through the unbearable pain. You were so brave! Bless your sweet puppy, too! Thank you for sharing what you and your family went through and your important research on the positive actions to take upon the onset of this painful situation. It is time for me to analyze my actions for immune health ... I do not want to neglect anything. 😊 Best wishes for the future and thank you for educating us all! Give all of your sweet fur babies a kiss and a treat! :medal-yellow-first-red::medal-yellow-first-red::medal-yellow-first-red:
  • My question is simply, "why the sudden increase in shingles?". From some of my own personal studies, our natural food supply is being compromised. The soils that our foods are grown in, are highly depleted of the nutrients that were once in the soils many years ago. From the 1920's, '30's, '40's and such, the soils were much more dense in proper nutrients. Now, everything is sprayed with pesticides, herbicides, etc., and the soils are simply not the same. So, if we aren't supplementing with the right vitamins and herbs, including herbal teas, I believe those deficiencies will definitely affect our immunities. This was a great video and hosted a wealth of information. Thank you for sharing.

I had shingles for 8-1/2 years until I researched that Methotrexate was causing my outbreaks. No rheumatologist knew why I had it every week for years on both hips. When I lowered my MTX doses, the shingles was less frequent. Once I changed my diet and my doctors prescribed an increased dose of Vitamin D3 the shingles became less prominent (one hip). Then I discovered K2 helped clear up the shingles quickly, but would return in 2-4 blisters each month. Your additional treatments entice me, and encourage me to see if this controls the outbreaks entirely. I am 73 and have used Methotrexate for 22+ years. My Neurologist told my Rheumatologist that adding Prednisone and/or Arava would worsen my neuropathy. I don't like the side effects of those medicines anyway. So, thank you for your advice. You have given me some comfort to know that I can tweak my regime more so I can suppress shingles even more. My medical team of healthcare specialists have exhausted what they are permitted to reveal to me. Your experience and research allows me to be less frustrated in how to manage my particular situation. Thank you!

Shingles is very common due to many people now having VAIDS.

I came down with fibromyalgia over 20 years ago. The stress of that and no viable remedies I then came down with shingles. My 1st symptom was pain in my foot and ankle like a burning skin sensation. It lasted a week and then I got a rash on my left butt cheek. I thought spider bite. Waited to go to doctor for a week but it was getting worse. He said shingles and there was nothing he could do. I continued with that every other month when my left ovary would ovulate causing a body stress. I went on like this until the 1st shingles shot years later helped a little. I took antivirals and that helped but the best was the second shingles shot about 4 years ago. I only suffer if I get overly stressed. I try to avoid stress. Limit people, news, gossip etc. I find my best pain reliever to be magnesium. I meditate, yoga, red light therapy, walking dogs, feeding wildlife, reading non stressful books etc. I do feel like I am always running a fever. I get way over heated beyond what others feel. I think that is a fever that continues to fight my shingles. Im 66. Wouldn't wish this on a single soul. Peace be with you.
  • I’m sorry you got this, but it’s so helpful to know that you’ve experienced it personally. You’ve been such a comfort as I’ve gone through this—I’ve added a lot of your remedies to my daily routine.

I watched your video and was impressed. I'm 76 very healthy workout 5 days a week and eat only whole food. With that said like you I had a combination fo lack of good sleep, heavy sunburn, and stress. With the heat in Idaho I was starting very early at the ranch building new fence when I had a land dispute (stress) I got a very sore area on my left neck (I thought was from pounding fence posts. Then I developed blisters went to a doctor and confirmed it was not sunburn but shingles. I took the medicine for about a week the blisters went away now going on 3 weeks I have nerve pain from my left ear down my neck shoulder left arm and left pictorial muscle. When I touch those spots I feel pain almost like electric shock at times. So I'm going to follow up on some of your other videos on stopping nerve pain.

Calazinc Thera also works topically for skin outbreaks. So soothing and really heals fast. A true gift from God for these afflictions.

My outbreak began with horrible nightly headaches and not knowing anything of shingles, I was convinced it was a tumor🤔. Also while walking outside, the wind would blow my hair and it felt like they were breaking pieces of glass. Still not putting 2 and 2 together and even if I had, I never got the blisters so it wasn't a routine outbreak. The dermatologist diagnosed it, put me on Valeclyclovir, the shingles did go into my eye followed by another round of the "V" drug plus prednisone in my eye. And yes, for 18 months I've been dealing with post herpetic pain and trying to mend the damaged nerves by putting to use the Nerve Doctors advice. I gave up sugar 3 months ago to limit inflammation and am taking Nuphoria with Lions Mane and cautiously am noticing a very slight improvement. I'm committed to this coarse and will let you know how it goes. Also, as is commonly said, I was greatly stressed prior to outbreak and the mysterious symptoms and my imagination only made it worse. Hope this helps as my beginning shingles didn't fit the pattern.

Lysine Lysine Lysine and zinc. Have battled this since a child. They used to have lip salve with both zinc and lysine. No more to be found but they worked and were affordable. I get outbreaks at change of seasons. I take lysine as soon as I feel it coming on.

I had a severe attack in February 2024. The pain lasted a whole month. I was almost begging to be sedated in hospital. Now, several months after the rash went, I am left with numbness and post-herpetic itch where the rash was (right-ribcage and lower back). It's like the itch that can never be scratched. Interesting about the vitamin D. Living in New Zealand, our sun burns fast so we tend to stay out of the sun which probably means Kiwis are amongst the lowest in vitamin D in the world.
