  • Officer: And why were you going 80 in a school zone? Scotty: Cheap floor mats...
  • @frederickmoller
40 years ago, before Weather Tech or the mats with the holes in them were even around, I always fastened my rubber floot mats to the seatframe in 2 places with wire to prevent this from happening, it worked for me!
  • @triggera3851
Good advice about the mats. I wouldn't leave empty water bottles or similar in the floor either.
  • @okwarlok
This is very true. Some years ago I was on my way to work when all of a sudden my truck started revving up. I made it to work trying to figure out what was wrong. I got out and looked down and my mat was flapped over my peddle. They went straight into the trash!
  • Poor Matt, always getting stepped on. Unlike curt n Rod those are some upstanding guys.
  • @hucucucu8716
This actually happened to me, while I was learning to drive, and my instructor saved the day, by pulling the mat down, and unblocking the gas pedal
  • He forgot to tell you it takes a minute to cut 2 holes in a mat to make it fit
  • The note to take from this is use Velcro or double sticky tape on a cheap floor mat
  • @g5alive795
Got the 1's w/ holes! ****IMPORTANT,**** make sure nothing under drivers seat can "ROLL" under your feet. 2 screwdrivers rolled out, after quick braking recently, went to accel., my foot rolled on 1, & I hit the brake instead. Happened so fast. Glad car behind wasn't too close, though driver did 1 finger salute me. 😲

Thank you for this video. I recently was running an errand for a friend and I drove her car. The floor mat bunched up and the accelerator was stuck causing me to wreck. She doesn't believe this is possible. Now maybe she'll see it's true. Thank you
  • scotty looks like he missing a few chromosomes in the thumbnail😂💀
  • @patrickb8257
So true!!! This actually happened to me. My gas peddle got stuck as I was on the highway. Thank God I was able to yank on the mat to unjam it.

My Weather Tech mats are great. I was able to find a good deal on them so I didn't have to pay an arm and a leg.
  • @bulbman7080
I use weather tecks here and I do not purchase new, I've found all of mines on Facebook Marketplace CHEAP! This said, you could always go to your local salvage yard to find the factory floor mats your car came with, buy them cheap, take to the laundromat to washed them up nice in a front loader, then home to dry in sun. Once dry, put in your car, works like a charm. 💯

I sometimes wonder what Scotty's neighbors think of him when they look out their window and see him talking and flailing his arms in front of a camera on a tripod in his driveway 😂.
  • @calvinevans8305
Good advice Scotty, and don't leave trash or water bottles in your car. They want to roll down to the lowest part of your interior, typically under the brake pedal.
