Philippines definitely suitable for vacations or short term stay but Ecuador will be best place to live for long term in my opinion. Philippines is just too crowded and polluted now especially in Manila City. But lots of beautiful islands to visit indeed!

I glad you enjoyed your visit. In Cuenca, had you looked around, they have Pigs, Cows, and Coy cooking over open fire pits. I personally can't wait to try a Coy. My difficulty is going to be eating it while looking at the whole carcass. I'm too used to buying my meats from super markets.

Just got home from a 2 week+ stay in Cuenca and can definitely reiterate that you should take cash and no bill larger than 20! Even 20s should be in the minority of your bills. Take mostly 5s and 1s!! Cuenca is BEAUTIFUL!! 100% going to be our new home!

We have a lot of places to visit before settling down but we are cool weather lovers, tend to like medium size cities, relatively safe, good hospital, friendly locals, and things to do. Three cities in that area of the world seem to check most boxes- Manizales, Colombia Cuenca, Ecuador Arequipa, Peru So many places to go and so little time ! 😃
