  • How this airport remained open for so long is a miracle in itself
  • Kai Tak airport was retired 20 years ago. Wish I could turn back 20 years.

I am a 11 year old aviation lover! That was awesome! I actually got to fly on a Northwest 747 1 year before Northwest started flying under the name Delta.

Without doubt, the most exotic international airport ever built (by the British).
  • Thanks for the Hong Kong Kai Tak archive upload. Visited this iconic airport back in the late 90s. Its hard to believe aviation icons such as the 747 and Kai Tak are now a part of aviation history. Once in a lifetime unforgettable experience for this avgeek and its checkboard approach. Truly thumbs up for Kai Tak and the vital role it played for Hong Kong before Chek Lap Kok.
  • I love how majestic the queen of the skies is when she effortlessly flies towards the tarmac whilst avoiding the tops of apartment buildings
  • I love the fact the 747 and a330 are the planes that landed here the most
  • Must've been so exciting not knowing what plane would come would come around the corner because they didnt have flight trackers
  • I worked as a skycap in MSP for Northwest and later Delta for 26 years between 1985 and 2011.That Northwest 747-400 was such a beautiful aircraft. It was probably one of those that used to operate nonstop between MSP and HKK at that time.
  • Worked in HK, at Stonecutters island. I remember the planes passing overhead with undercarriage down and on finals. Interesting...
