Wow, I'm not a laptop guy, but this is an awesome guide with tools. Please get into GPU and motherboard mods and do similar techniques as in the video

I must add that if you want to do this to the bottom cover if your heatsink/CPU is on that side, if your laptop has a composite or plastic bottom cover like ThinkPads, use 0.5mm copper sheets instead! With the graphite sheets I didn't see much improvement, but saw a large improvement with copper sheeting instead. Probably due to the copper also serving as the heatsink as well as the heat transfer material.

do graphite sheets really conduct heat across a larger surface without conducting electricity? Really curious because it could come in very handy for some of my older laptops with hotspots
  • @Ryezn5057
Couldn't these short the laptop? How much % improvement in cooling?
  • can u put here a url link for the supplier of that graphite sheet and thermopads u've used for keyboard side in another video. thanks in advance

I undervolted the cpu -0.1volts. set the max processor speed to 99% (less boosting) and used liquid metal on the gpu and cpu. now it almost never tunrs on the fan when doing office work and light video editing. Gaming still is rather loud but way cooler and it throttles less.

I did this on my older Matebook X Pro based on your site, and the keyboard still gets hot during high usage, but it definitely smoothed the heat across. Thanks for putting this video out. I didn't have a printer, so I used a ruler to measure each section, which worked but is a lot more difficult than your solution. One note would be careful getting the sheets under the cable that runs horizontally across the chassis; I kept the backing on the lower half I slid under it to prevent it binding to the chassis as it's a tight clearance.

Did you get to spend any time with the 2019 version before doing this mod? The 2018 version is notorious for the heating and I was wondering with the bigger fan chassis and holes for the VRM were there any noticeable difference in heat? I'm deciding between buying the 2018 version or waiting for the 2019 for the heat/trackpad improvements since I'm not tech savvy enough to open up the 2018 and replace thermal paste and such

how much is the overall cost of the materials and tools for all of the modding?
  • @davidletterboyz
After you applied the new graphite sheet, does it increase the temperature of the palm rest? I mean there's no point doing this if it makes the palm rest too uncomfortable to be used.

hey brad i recently aquired a matebook 14" what tutorial can I apply to it?
  • @geniumme2502
these sheets are not only thermally conductive but also electrically or am i wrong ? dont you have to be very very careful not to touch any of the electronics?
  • @Ropbastos
How's the battery life after all these mods?
  • @RyoHyunsuk
See the result of graphite sheet hack.

    1. Graphite sheets are electrically conductive. 2. Be careful when handling those fragile graphite sheets. Their thermal conductivity reduces as you introducing more folds and indentations. (2:41) p.s. Great moddings! More moddings! You've almost destroyed a piece of art...(Strikethrough) It's just a bit ugly on the internal...
