  • this is by far one of the best albums of all time. it encapsulated all the mixed emotions of a lost tortured soul and gently guided you back to yourself, standing alone by the roadside comforted with melodic raw genius resonating in your head. 25 years later i still listen to these songs and it's like a sort of homecoming. seven and it's all over where my two first experiences from the god machines, scenes from a second story, pure gold. my kids drift off quietly to sleep everytime i play these beautifully crafted songs by the hand of godlike artistic genius. x

I saw them twice (in 92 and 93). They were such great band; me too I never understood were more people got into them. I always thought they were in advance of their time. Once you realise their second and last album (one last laugh in a place of dying...) was released after Jimmy Fernandez (their bassist) tragically died, maybe you can understand why songs have so strange names and are so different then their first album. Sophia's first two albums (fixed water, The infinite circle) show you how desperate Robin was after the loss of his friend Jimmy. Robin is just a master songwriter !!

Such an awesome, sublime piece of music...immaculately constructed. Gorgeous...

This is my favourite album of all time. I remember playing 'In Bad Dreams' to a girl I fancied when I was about 14. She kissed me. 20 years later I still listen to my favourite songs on the album and drift away like it was the first time I listened to them. One of a handful of albums that can do that. Masterful song writing.
  • best song of the nineties, so intense and truthful it must have hurt a lot of people, happy to have seen them live

Such an emotional song of such an emotional band. Seen them once as support of Living Colour. They blew my brains out, that loud.

a great album indeed. I first started to listen to GM back in '92...never understood why more people didn't get into them.

it was originally released under Fiction records as was the first album. I found my copy in a bargain basement basket for £5. I couldnt understand why it was there.

I much prefer it to Scenes. But then again I am miserable cunt at times, and this provides such an approriate soundtrack to miserable cuntery.
  • @cardiacade
I really want to form an acoustic covers band of God Machine songs.

All things will eventually die And a true hunter weeps at a merciless killing

I would have posted the full album because I know Robin wouldn't mind but my CD is irrepairably damaged. I have the mp3's but then again I dont want to post the entire album as it may inspire ppl to buy the album. Who knows :)
