A bit late with this review but here y'all go! Later Steven Universe
  • @dercarrot991
Basically, “Steven has PTSD cause he was like killing things at 12”
  • @AxelWedstar411
Amethyst and Pearl do the Cookie Cat rap Garnet *deadpan*: "He left his family behind"
  • @ShizueUwU
"Here we are in the future." No Steven, we're in Therapy.

Why didn't they do a 40 min finale like the actual show's finale? It would fix the pacing issues and let the characters actually try without resorting to a hug...
  • @twisterzz4
I just feel like the final 2 episodes of future needed 15 more minutes each. The pacing leading up to the final 2 episodes was amazing, but the actual end was just a little rushed
  • I was actually pretty disappointed at the fact that they didn’t show Jasper all that much. I actually really like Jasper and her character had so much potential, and so much room to grow but they just kept pushing her off to the side as much as possible.

"What happened..? Where's Steven Universe?" "It's gone.." "What did you say?! Answer me!" "IT'S GONE!"

Love your vids man. One day you’ll be complaining about how the third adventure time reboot shouldnt have been live action, and I’ll totally be there for that.

I felt this way too, like, Steven had already known and heard that everyone loved him already. He already knew all of that. This series was about inner demons, so I dont think him knowing he's loved by others was enough to "resolve" what he was going through. But at the same time, I'm not sure how they could've done that. And I've seen others say this isn't a "resolution" but just the beginning of him getting better. I just wish we could've seen, somehow, in his head, what he was going through during the monster episode. Maybe they could've used white diamonds power to their advantage. I'm not sure. I think if the episode had been longer, it would've felt less rushed.

I thought if Jasper had stayed shattered, THAT would've been a very heavy, very satisfying end to her character. Sort of a, "those who live by the sword, die by the sword", and I imagine when Steven opens his hands, we just see Japer's shards floating in the water. THAT would've been heavy, and made more sense for his breakdown and monster form later, because I just eyerolled when she suddenly reformed right away. Know What I Mean?

I liked the hug, not because of the hug but because of what it represented :) The hug itself isn't what bought Steven back, it was the fact he spent so long hiding that side of himself out of fear he would be abandoned for not being 'classic Steven'. The hug showed him that even in his darkest moment, when he became the evil monster he thought he was, they refused to abandon him. It was a 'we have seen the worst part of you, but we still love you' moment. Before the breakdown, no matter what support they said, he would reason to himself that they're only saying that because they don't know the monster he is, but after there was no way to tell himself that. Yes, the hug was cheesy, but proof that they still loved him flaws and all is exactly what he needed at that moment.

The whole show was basically characters getting angry until they cry.
  • Imagine if Godzilla hugged Ghidorah instead of annihilating him with his atomic breath
  • @WaterBolt
Rebecca Sugar in a interview: I think crying is funny
  • @droidicarus
I think that the amped up crying is supposed to be ridiculous. Because it is ridiculous that they would wallow in self pity while their friend is suffering. That was Connie’s whole point at the end.

I will say: if steven did destroy the town, then he would have felt even worse and taken much longer to leave as he works through the guilt of actually ruining so much and actually working to fix the town as well as little homeschool. I would have liked to see his new powers as a kaigu but the town being safe lets him move out and not have anything hold him back emotionally or physically.
