The mangaka said he wanted to write a big story about one small step, and I think a lot of us needed a story like that.

In which a teenager got rejected by their crush, thanks them for their honest reply, goes tell their friends that they got rejected, cries openly with friends while they comfort them. Everyone needs this. So simple yet so many things get in the way. Just pure acceptance on every level.

FINALLY some tsubomi appreciation. i saw someone once say that the end of mob psycho makes you like every character more "except tsubomi" and i was like wtf are you even talking about??? she waited through the goddamn apocalypse bearing down on her because she didn't want to break a promise to her friend???

This anime is honestly one of those pieces of media that can alter how you define yourself and want to live your life. Thank you so much for all of the in-depth videos you've done for this series

The fact that One made a character like Reigen, someone who should be a despicable con artist with the worst track record possible into my favorite character through sheer compelling writing is definitely a big achievement.

I do really appreciate how much Tsubomi gets characterized in her own arc. They don't retcon anything and show that it actually takes a lot of character to reject someone like Mob. She walks her own path and that gives her a lot more personality than you get out of a lot of women in anime.

I could've listened to another hour of this. this show makes me feel heard more than most

It's too bad this didn't include some introspection on Teru and his fantastic final battle with Shigeo. He basically mirrors Mob's own growth, essentially winning their fight by losing it physically. But prevailing with all his and Mob's ideals protected and confirmed by saving lives and acknowledging the struggles that Mob was facing at the same time.
  • Someone once mentioned that Dimple is the first person to bridge the gap to ???% because he's been unfailingly honest, and I love that. Shigeo knows Dimple always says it like it is without hiding anything. While Mob was brainwashed into forgetting Dimple's sacrifice, ???% (Mob's subconscious) would remember. Most importantly, Dimple accepts the worst parts of himself without hesitation, something ???% wants Mob to do; accept every dark and negative emotion he's suppressed. Out of all Mob's friends, Dimple was the only one who ???% trusted completely.

The character arc that genuinely hit the hardest for me was Serizawa's. Seriously, the phrase "it's never too late to start" is always thrown around, but it hits different seeing it in action. It was actually touching to see him redo his schooling with true enjoyment.
  • mob psycho literally changed my life i dont care if its cheesy or childish. im someone who has depression since 4th grade, and mp100 genuinely changed my perspective on life and helped me through some of my recent rock bottom times. although it didnt cure me, it definitely changed me significantly. being able to relate to shigeo so deeply despite not being a 14 year old with supernatural powers but just because he portrayed the way i felt inside so accurately and then being able to see him change and evolve as a person gave me hope and motivation to change myself. i really dont care how silly it seems. it will forever be my favorite show of all time and i will forever cherish it in my heart. it prompted me to change myself, to decide to recover from my multiple mental illnesses, as well as take better care of myself and to open up to the people around me.

Seeing Mob do a full belly laugh with full happiness and confidence is the most fulfilling thing to see after this whole AMAZING story. This will ALWAYS be my favorite anime of all time.
  • Honestly this show helped me get out of alcoholism, take MmA as a hobby, and spend more quality time with with my little sister.
  • this show came into my life when i was in a real bad place. i felt i was both superior to and less than my peers, was lashing out, hurting people online, wanting to cause others harm. this show really helped me wake up, realize that we're all just people, no one is inherently better than anyone else. that i needed to grow the hell up, and be kind. and you know what? i did. and ive come a long ways from when i was that hurting teenager, and i couldnt be more proud of myself. at that time, i thought i would take my life before i turned twenty, and my twentieth birthday is coming up in a few more months. it gets better, i promise.

I love how Dimple and Reigen are both kinda... bad guys in some ways, but also really good guys too. Especially toward Mob and both help Mob grow to be a legitimately good person and Mob, likewise, influences Reigen and Dimple to be better people too. I love it.

I really love how the relationship between Mob and Tsubomi was left positive but ambiguous. She really was the goat waiting through a natural disaster for our boy (that was also our boy.) I also appreciate how she appreciates Mob for actually treating HER like a human, calling her ahead of time rather than lining up with the rest of the mooks on a conveyor belt of emotionally exhausting disappointment. All in all, by far my favorite story of all time, truly a masterpiece of our generation and what I consider essential viewing for anyone.
  • @devilzelink
Rarely been so emotive at the end of a show. Shivers just thinking about that journey.
  • Mob becoming the vice president of the Body Improvement Club is one of the GOAT moments of anime, and they didn't even draw that much attention to it.
