  • "When you do something shameful for pleasure, the pleasure passes quickly but the shame endures. But when you do something hard for good the effort passes quickly but the good endures". That one hit me hard.
  • @brad3529
"You did it. We talked 3 years ago and now it's real." That's such a cool, rewarding opener.

5 mins in, I bought the Feel Good Productivity book on Audible.... then kept watching this vid and realised that getting that book (althought brillaint no doubt) was just ANOTHER way of procrastinating and 'not doing the thing i know I need to do' 44mins in, i have paused the vid and started typing away at the thing ive been procrastinating on for a month... i wasn't expecting this to happen! I realised I was just overwhlemed... So: - i wrote my goal - then wrote a few step-by-steps to take (eg 'open this doc', open that doc..) then I just started typing I've found that making tiny tiny tiny written babysteps helps me get it done and break through the overwhelm OK.. BACK TO WORK I GO. love you all

The deep dives of all deep dives! The conversation felt so real and authentic—no fluffs. Not to mention, the epic wisdom bombs, “Painters like painting, writers like having written.” This was an awesome episode. 🔥🔥
  • @jscul
Step 1: watch a 2 hour video on YouTube.
  • I love listening to writers talk about their productivity. For me it’s the best as it’s the balance between inspiration, flexibility, rigidity, schedule and doing one of the hardest things
  • @mbens9995
Ali, I really appreciate how you listen to people. You make a lot of space for the person to respond, the expression on your face shows true interest, and you respond with humility and a desire to learn more.
  • @AlainGuillot
I loved minute 1:56 when you surround yourself with people who are doing what you want to do, it seems possible.
  • The conversation about learning about productivity as a way of procrastinating hit pretty hard, especially because it's what I'm literally doing right now. I love watching people like Ali and Ryan talk because I feel like I'm learning how to be better, but I haven't even started being. I'm relatively aimless and have a vague path in front of me, but I still haven't put in the time to figure out what I actually want or how to get there because of some deep rooted hang up that I haven't been able to overcome. I know I'm not alone in this, but it often feels like it. All this wandering around through life is exhausting, so I'm going to go put my energy towards figuring out my goals, habits and systems and finding a clear path forward. I'll just have to listen to the rest of this talk later. To everybody who has picked a path and is actively working towards a chosen future, thank you for setting an example and I wish you well. To everybody like me who has yet to take meaningful action, you're not alone and we can get through it.
  • Ryan is one of those people who will tell you raw if you’re doing something stupid. I love that about him. But he’s also humble enough to say I don’t know everything, but what I’ve learned so far is that what you’re doing will get you negative results. And will proceed to show you exactly what he learned and how he learned. I love the authenticity. Especially with the comparison for an A-type like Ali. Ryan gives everyone a reality check on letting go of perfectionism and setting realistic expectations. He’s more growth-focused versus results-driven. A true stoic. Excellent episode Ali!! 👏🏻 👏🏻
  • @linzebrandon
As a writer, artist and self-employed engineer (throw practicing Stoic into the mix) I have to say this episode is one of my favourites. Keep up the good work, Ali! 💜🇿🇦
  • @arghya_333
I respected Ryan before, but holy shit this podcast was the most enlightening podcast I have heard. It is super satisfying to listen to Ryan speak his wisdom, especially when you are taking notes. The stuff he talked here resonated with me far more than his Stoic principles ever had (they were good, this was just excellent).
  • A few takeaways. Procrastination. Sometimes the problem isn't that there's no goal. It's just that startung is the hard part. goals. This is something I want to work on in the coming year. Not just setting the goals, but also writing them down. And from there choosing one thing to do to achieve that goal. Thanks for sharing this conversation.👍
  • @SonalChhajed
You conversations make me feel like you are still figuring out stuff and thats really cool. Its so nice to hear that people who have accomplished so much are still in the same boat. I struggle a lot with comparison. How do manage that ?? Some of your videos gave me a impression that you have probably gone through this so your experience would help
  • Absolutely mesmerized by Ryan Holiday’s masterclass in this conversation with Ali. His openness and articulate way of sharing wisdom are truly commendable. It’s refreshing to see such humility and focus in a dialogue that’s genuinely illuminating. I know ‘inspirational’ is a term thrown around a lot these days, but Ryan genuinely embodies it. This isn’t just a conversation; it’s a treasure trove of insights. 👏
  • I feel like watching two friends having conversations. So authentic and genuine connections 🎉❤
  • Love this. First time I have ever heard about Ryan. Ordered his books to check him out some more. Your book will do awesome Ali, I pre ordered your book and I love your videos. Loved both your riffs and found a new channel of yours to subscribe to too.
  • @EnglishBros
Listening to Ali and Ryan inspires me to be the best version of myself. They teach me valuable things that I can incorporate into my journey of growth, which has already begun.
  • @cperezotero
