Basic White Dough Bread Recipe

1 cup lukewarm water
2 TBSPS sugar
2 ¼ tsps. Or one package of yeast
¼ cup oil
1 tsp salt
3 cups all-purpose flour

Using a bread machine add the ingredients as listed above and allow the machine to complete the cycle. Once complete your can form the dough into either a flat disk to freeze for a loaf or into individual balls to freeze for buns.

To thaw the dough remove it from the freezer and place it covered in a warm place checking every so often so often to see if it has thawed. If you are making a loaf of bread you want to keep an eye on it because you want it thawed but not to the point where it is starting its second rise. Form the dough for the loaf and allow it to double in size before baking at 375 degrees for approximately 35 minutes.

  • I don’t know if you know , but your videos are much more than just cooking shows. I watch them to also restore a sense of well being. You are proof that goodness still exists and the humanity we believed in still lives somewhere. It sounds emotional, but the world is so bad right now, but here you are. A gentleness alive and well. Don’t change anything.
  • Just went and got my bread maker out. I am making bread tomorrow.what a time saver.

Coleen you are so wonderful. Thank you for teaching us more ways to use our bread machines. Just recently I was thinking about freezing some dough, but I haven’t done it for over 40 years and I forgot how to do it. Thank you again for a very timely video. Don’t apologize for your chat, I think it’s delightful. Thanks again.
  • I’m 74 and have never made a loaf of bread till now. Got a bread maker for Christmas. I tried the bread that came with the book, but now I am going to try yours. I sure hope it turns out. I love your videos. I like your style.☺️
  • You are a gift and a Blessing to share with everyone thank you so much

Momma Colleen Your videos always get me to click. I have made so many bread recipes because of you. Thank you for sharing and being a blessing. It's so relaxing to watch you! Thank you ❤ much love from ohio

Colleen, thank you for your excellent instructions on making/freezing the bread dough and the successful way to thaw and bake it! I have been making bread for years but could never find anyone who explained this freezing/thawing/baking process as well as you did. I am hosting our family gathering again next week and expect approximately 35 people. This year I decided to do all the cooking. Last week I tried your method and baked a dozen rolls (after freezing/thawing) and my husband liked them better than my usual rolls that are baked fresh. So I now have 4 dozen rolls made in the freezer, ready to go! It will certainly make the day of my event go smoother. Thank you so much for your time and effort that you put into sharing with us through your videos. 👏

Just like the others that watch your channel, I too am learning a great deal from you, so thank you! I have made your Basic Bread Machine dough with and without the Italian seasoning SEVERAL times, and each time I am amazed at the exceptional results - both in appearance and taste - and proud as can be that I DID THAT!
  • Thank you for sharing your recipes and all the information we need to make them! My mom passed away and she was the baker in the family as well as the canner of fruits and vegetables. I never had the opportunity to learn from her sadly and I have no one left to teach me. I’m so thankful I found you! 🙏🏻❤️🌹

I’m so glad I found your show! You explain everything so great and it makes cooking enjoyable. Thank you!
  • Thank you for inviting me to visit your home and learn something from a friend, I have to admit I come for the bread machine recipes. I'm encouraged to use my machine & my MANY books, "I'm going to give this machine a workout- charge!

I learned a lot from this video. Thanks Colleen. I found your comments about trying to do TOO MUCH as we get older on point. I remember working all day at my office and coming home at 5 to find out we were having guests for dinner. I'd have a nice dinner including dessert on the table by 6:30. Fast forward to 2024. First, I must admit that I'm operating with a serious disadvantage. I've been dealing with Lupus for a very long time and because of the disease and the side effects of the medication I take my memory is terrible and I don't have the physical stamina I used to have. Now I have to look up recipes that were previously just in my head, no look-up necessary. Missing ingredients can only be solved by taking all of them out and after I use them I move them to the 'finished' ingredients. Anyway ...... now it takes me many hours, sometimes days, to prepare meals for a company dinner. lol. It is what it is.
  • Good evening Colleen from a warm 58* Tennessee !! Thank you for sharing this dough making that can be frozen . I’ve never saw this done !! Blessings to you all.

Thank you Colleen for taking the time to make bread and step by step, with deliciousness on our table with ease! I had a bread machine for years and years when my children were younger. I wore it out and got away from dough/bread making. Keep on sharing your kitchen with us.
  • Your videos are very inspiring, please keep on and do not change a thing😊

Another great educational video. Hmm, somewhat embarrassed to say my bread maker isn't working at the moment due to me not removing the paddle that leaves the hole in the loaf, when bread was stale I tossed it to the hens and never yet have found the paddle or found a replacement part 😁 yes pretty foolish of me. I meant to mention last video how nice it was you included my card, hope others send you cards from where they live as we all can see what a lovely town you live in. X

Colleen, thank you so much. I am now using my bread maker. How easy to make bread, rolls, buns etc now. I am so glad I found you. Blessings ❤
