To "win a game of Enter The Gungeon" has a lot of different meanings. In this video I explain all the different ways, starting from the simplistic to the most complicated, of beating EtG and the story behind each. Hopefully this video helps you get a fuller picture of all the different ways you can beat the game, and gives some helpful advice and tips along the way.

If you’re either a new player to Enter The Gungeon or made your way through the first couple of floors you’ve probably got a general sense of how the game progresses. That is, you start on Floor 1 and you work your way down to the lower floors till you reach the end and face a boss. The more you play Enter The Gungeon, however, you’ll soon realize that this isn’t quite the full picture.

It’s true that you “beat” enter the gungeon if you can go through all the floors and defeat the Dragon. However, that’s just the beginning of the full story that the gungeon has to offer. As it turns out there are “layers” both to the story and what it means to win the gungeon.

A little bit more advanced tip I would give to a new player who wants to unlock the gunslinger is to beat the Resourceful Rat in the run and do well in the 3d phase, the Punch out fight (when playing as the gunslinger, but feel free to do this as Paradox). Yes, I know it sounds absolutely ridiculous, since everyone who tried to beat the rat for the first couple of times knows that he is very brutal when you're not familiar with his attacks, and the 3d phase is no joke, and even getting to RR is a long road, but trust me, it's worth it to learn to be able to kick rat's ass every run successfully. The items and weapons you receive can make everything easier (it's a bit RNG reliant though, either you get incredibly good stuff or not that good stuff), but the main focus is the rat chests: the things contained in them are ludicrously overpowered, especially the elementalier, which will cheese (don't worry, my execution is scheduled for tomorrow already) all the regular rooms effortlessly. Full RR set is almost a guaranteed win for the run. Since there are already many videos with tips on how to beat RR, I won't talk about them, except for one thing which I don't think I've ever seen being mentioned anywhere: after getting through the maze, if you have a leftover heart, push it into the rat's boss room by walking into it (may take a few seconds to get used to it). Once you start the fight, it may look like the heart disappeared (if you pushed 2 hearts in, then one will vanish for real), but it actually stays there, just invisible now. If you find yourself injured after the 1st phase, you can go back to the boss door and pick it up, and believe me, 2 additional hits can be a difference between life and death (a word of advice, don't push the heart too deep into the room, because it can be launched with a blank effect, and if you used any, or got hit with an armor during the battle, it can get problematic to look for an invisible object in a big ass room. Just leave it near the door). Another tip I'll give is don't feel obligated to go into oubliette every single run. It can be a very unforgiving place for an early game, and frankly, the more I went into it, the more I disliked it, which isn't cool since it's a pretty neat floor actually, just a bit annoying. You have no idea how many runs you can save by listening to this, lmao.

I have 161 hours in EtG and I had no idea there was an invisible path to the Planar Lead. I got it on a run with the jetpack.

i think a deep dive into the completionist extras would be cool! you could also include secret weapons like the mimic gun or high dragonfire, secret gungeoneers like the cormorant or the resourceful rat, or even lesser known secrets like the black market or super tonic the sledge dog! :D

It took me 6 months to finish this incredible game and I've never had that experience in any game I've played for my 15 years of console gaming. It usually takes me a week or so to get every bit of content in a game, but here the long process is part of it. Without that process I never wouldve been so good at bullet dodging, defeating bosses, taking huge ass risks or even battling the damn lich and rat with just one heart. This game has definitely taught me how to "git gud" and is truly a masterpiece of rouge likes. I literally cannot tell you how amazing this game is, to truly understand how much of a masterpiece this game is, is to Enter The Gungeon.

15:28 quick tip: you can see what weapons you have (not the item tho) just by opening the ammonicon in the breach so you can save some time by not constantly loading and leaving first floor

I came here after beating my past for the first time with the pilot.. I felt so strong until I realized that I had barely done 10% of the game 😭 Love this game so much though, it's so rewarding to beat a boss ! 💪🏼

You can also do what I did to unlock the gunslinger. Miraculously survive as the paradox. Go into the gunslinger run. Get the blackhole gun in floor 2 and let the synergies do all the busy work. That run was something man.

  • Great vid! I've heard ETG was a good game but never paid much attention to it. I think this is the little push I needed to try it out. Also I hope you make more long form videos like this. The quality of this video made me think you had at least 10k subs. You have a real talent for content creating

Bro… I didn’t know there was an invisible path to get the planar lead, I thought I had to get the Jetpack or wax wings to get over there. 😭
  • @Luddo-

It's nice to see that, even 5 years later, the community is still active
  • 9:12 you can actually roll over this trail of bullets without walking around, your roll distance is enough to do this
  • @CoolSs
i did literally everything in this game but i watched this guide just because i felt nostalgic for it . I can't believe how people dismissed this game when it's in my humble opinion the best evolution of nuclear throne X the binding of isaac . not only the game is well made that even broken runs are not guarantee to win if you can't dodge bullets etc.. the game got seriously ton of awesome QoL as also an actual progression that not half baked like other game like it . Edit: i never felt happy more than when we got the last update and the "unfinished gun" got it finished version . were in it description it says "thank you for playing" . what a sincere message by the devs to us the player .
