The Truth About "Learning to Code" - what other youtubers are not telling you

In this video, I'm going to share with you the truth about "learning to code."

I believe that a lot of youtubers are not telling you the whole truth about "learning to code." They make it seem like it's this easy, magic process that you can do in just a few weeks. But the truth is, it's not that easy. It's actually pretty challenging and requires a lot of dedication and effort.

Hey everyone! Today, we're getting real about learning to code. You might've seen those videos where people land amazing jobs super quickly or showcase their fancy developer life. But let's be honest, it's not always that glamorous. It took me 3.5 years to really get into this field, and it might be different for you, but one thing's for sure: it's not a cakewalk.

In this video:

I'll share how I set my own expectations.

- My journey from earning $13.75/hr to making a pretty good salary.
- Why starting your own projects is a game-changer.
- A look into my own GitHub experiences (and yep, there were ups and downs).
- Thoughts on tutorials and how many you really need.
- The value of getting out there, meeting people, and networking.

Plus, a bit about why I’m not trying to sell you any courses.

It's all about hard work and sticking with it, no magic tricks. I'm just sharing my own experience, and I'd love to hear about yours too. Let me know what you think in the comments, and if you like straight-up chats like this, maybe give a thumbs up and subscribe. See you in the next video! 👋🖥️

It's like going to the gym, it's difficult, not everyone has the mindset to make it a habit and be consistent and even more so if you are learning alone, one thing that helped me was knowing that it wouldn't be easy but that it could be achieved, another thing that helped me It was also listening to podcasts (it was a little difficult for me since my language is Spanish) but it was interesting to see the path it took for others. For those who still doubt, yes you can get a job, it is difficult but it is worth it.

Well said. Even getting the second job is difficult so be prepared and do a little bit of work every day regardless

Finally, someone said the truth. I've been getting stuck in tutorials and books and I don't have anything done yet.

Another great one paul! If I may I would suggest a career path that could get folks foot in the door alittle faster than being front-end developer… email development. That only takes 3 months, but within that time you would definitely need to build and develop projects from scratch like you mentioned! 😏👊🏽

hey man, can you make a video talking about what exactly can we do to transition from only watching tutorials to being able to do a project from scratch? I think this would be really helpful to many people! many thanks in advance
  • @thatbeezie
