VIDEO INTRODUCTION:

Hello everybody,

The red sea is officially at war!

On 19th of november, a ship named Galaxy Leader was hijacked by a group called the Houthis in the Red Sea. and While most people thought this was just yet another rebel attack, what followed next was so crazy that this incident is on the verge of putting the entire world economy on the edge of disruption again!! Because its not one or two attacks, there have been 37 attacks on commercial ships by the Houthis using drones! And now this war has come close to India!

Now just like any other geopolitical conflict, this conflict has Iran and Russia on one side and the US, Israel and UAE on the other side! And since the red sea has 2 critical choke points of world trade, it has already had a wide scale impact on both the world trade and Indian trade to Europe and US.
And again, if this conflict escalates, we all know what happens, oil price shoot up, inflation spikes, and economies all around world will suffer!

So in this episode today let’s dive deep in and understand,
Who are these Houthi rebels?
Why are they attacking the ships in the red sea?
Why is the red sea so important?
How is this conflict putting the world economy at the edge of disruption?
And most importantly, how is the business in India and the world being affected due to this war?

While other channels are busy covering Bindra's scam, Thinkschool covered a larger picture which affects our entire export industry. Kudos
  • I love how business and especially geopolitics are inextricably linked in the videos you people upload. It is an asset for students who pursue business and much to people who eye on geopolitics events of our country in the upcoming year 2024. Thanks a ton, thinkschool!!

Events like Red sea are huge opportunities for carrier companies to earn huge profits, also new routes gets discovered but a huge damage to marine life 😢
  • After watching a series of videos and case studies from this channel I started to notice that every small thing happening around the world will directly or indirectly impact the economy of the countries which in turn will affect the lifes of the individuals.

Actually, even trade from china was affected. U see, i work in a renewable energy sector company, based out of gujarat. We get our OEM done from China. The supply chain is such that it goes from Beijing to singapore, then dubai, then gujarat (mudra and icd khodiyar). This drone attack delayed our shipment for a week and the customs took another week. We had a loss of 20-30L per day. It was said that "security reasons" were at play. So u see, although the red sea is far away from our location of business, and our supply chain is from eastern region and not the west, our Indian security is actually pretty tight. We complied with them for obvious reasons, but still our shipments were delayed. Now imagine, if something big took place irrespective of a disastrous event near our business location, every business will be affected one way or the other!!! (And yes its sad we are getting business from china inspite of everything. Our government is slow to create our own products but i know why that is: 1. The manuf of items need an high investment for setting up factories at vast scale 2. We lack sophisticated manpower and technology. 3. We want to ace renewable market as a whole, so market research needs to be at "A game". Hopefully we will reach there one day!!) Thanks for the video!!!
  • I don't know but when you mentioned that the militants are attacking all the ships except the one belonging to Russia, I could not help but link it to the recent visit of EAM Jaishankar to Russia and meeting the President in person!

INSTC (International North South Transport Corridor) between India to Iran to Russia could play a major role if Red Sea gets block for INDIA 🇮🇳
  • @suryakaushik1020
I would recommend you to highlight impact not only on Indian businesses, but also on Indian government or foreign policy. There's can be potential diplomatic talks between India and Iran(given that they have a good amount of diplomatic relations. As far as I know, India has invested in Iran to built deep-water port in Chabahar to counter china-controlled Gwadar port in pakistan. So I think Iran would direct Houthi's to exempt India-originated or India-bound ships. which might bring a relief to indian businesses. Please correct me if I am wrong.

The Panama and Suez Canals, two artificial waterways spanning continents, are often mistaken as alternatives. While they both revolutionized maritime trade, their distinct characteristics and roles in global commerce reveal a fascinating story of interconnectedness, not redundancy.☮
  • On One side Dhruv making something called ignorant and unuseful videos such as reviews on different movies and controversies just to reach 15 million subscribers. Where as this legend man making people knowledgable day by day..Thank u for such this wonderful content sir.❤

Completely off-topic - I recently watched you on TRS and it convinced me that you should start your own podcast. You are very logical in your approach, self-aware of biases (and tries to be as neutral as possible), optimistic, heavily data-driven and will let people decide on the final opinion. You're a seasoned content creator and will definitely be an amazing interviewer. Would love to see your own podcasts. You need not churn out on regular basis, but have quality ones - with people who are data-driven in topics like economics, defense and geopolitics. Would love to hear your opinion on it.
  • Really appreciate your hard work on this video as no one is talking about it👍

Panama canal issue is not because of water level in the sea but the fresh water lakes that are used to maintain the locks in the canal.
