Youtube decided to put a publicity interruption in the middle of David's electric solo... I really don't have words to describe how traumatic that experience was. Just wanted to share my pain and hate.
  • We won't hear music better than this in our life. Gilmour is the modern day Beethoven.
  • @SirDaffyD
When Gilmour passes, the world will lose one of the greatest musicians of all time.

8:33 Be the bassist and stop playing to listen to David Gilmour and think for a moment: I just played with a living legend of music. PRICELESS!

The solo on a slide guitar is a masterpiece. Every time I listen to it makes me cry.
  • There should be an actual law against putting ads in the middle of song vids.
  • David Gilmore is one of the greatest guitar players ever. Not the fastest or most technical, but his feel and instinct for note choice are unmatched.

I remember me, a 22 year old, shedding tears with my dad listening to this song in the car… No other song hits my soul like this one.. Thank you David

This song is a masterpiece. My favorite song of all time. I was 16 years-old when I first heard it and just fell in love with it and it's taken me nearly 30 years to truly understand the lyrics ("...leaving the myriad small creatures trying to tie us to the ground...to a life consumed by slow decay", "...looking beyond the embers of bridges glowing behind us...to a glimpse of how green it was on the other side") . I now have a 16 year-old son myself. He recently heard me listening to the song and said, "Who's that? It's really good." I sat down with him and told him how much the song meant to me and told him to listen to it again 30 years later to see if the meaning of the song grows over time for him too. I can only hope he'll be telling my grandkids years from now how much the song means to him...and his dad.

Maybe the best Song from Pink Floyd. Timeless masterpiece.
  • David Gilmour is more than a rock legend, he is a Psalmist, an acoustic poet, genius.
  • @Niuway44
The slide guitar followed by that acoustic finish breaks my heart every time. Pure magic to touch a soul this way.

The slide solo in this song is undefeated. So soothing.
