VN24 - 01-07-2022 - Werl A44 / Germany - After 7 p.m., an accident occurred on the A44 freeway near Werl. According to initial information, the driver of a Tesla electric car was traveling in an eastbound direction. According to his statement, a few hundred meters after the Haarstrang service area, he was forced out of his way by a truck that apparently changed lanes without paying attention. The Tesla went off course and skidded into the left concrete crash barrier, remaining damaged on the left lane. There is no information about injuries to the driver. However, due to the presumed risk of damage to the sensitive lithium battery in the car, a high-voltage trained towing company with special equipment from Dortmund had to be called in to correctly and safely recover the damaged electric car according to the manufacturer's specifications. They proceeded in protective clothing and lifted the vehicle with a crane into a fireproof and waterproof special container. In this container it was taken to the contractor's secure area where, according to the manufacturer's rules, it must now remain in a kind of quarantine for a considerable period of time under constant temperature control.

    Also sorry, aber dieses Vorgehen ist absolut überzogen. Der Akku ist sichtlich nicht beschädigt, somit erstmal nur ein normaler Kfz-Unfall. Wozu die Schutzkleidung? Gefahrgutunfall? Will ganicht wissen was das Abschleppen kostet...

    Seems like electric car owners need to start paying more tax and/or insurance costs. Since they clearly cost much more for the recovery services to deal with.

    Seems a bit over the top, you could see from the underside shot that the battery pack was undamaged.

    The threat is real, too many EVs had burst into flames causing undue damage to others. Also the electric protection is a liability for the employees so I fully understand these precautions. Also in my line of work I need an full hazmat suit only to replace an Airbus A320 cabin air filter.

    Und das zahlt alles die Versicherung? Aber Frachtkosten der verkratzen Stoßstange des Wagens meines Onkels wurde abgelehnt (die Stoßstange wurde im Ausland lackiert da es hier im hochbezahlten Deutschland zu teuer ist). Toll!

    Warum stehen zwei Mitarbeiter in der Sondertransportbox wenn ein so gefährliches Fahrzeug verladen wird? Das ist doch unverantwortlich! Helfen weiße Gummistiefel, orangefarbener Plastikanzug und gelbe Kopfbedeckung gegen einen "thermisch hochgehenden" Tesla-Akku? Wie kann man seine Mitarbeiter einer so großen Gefahr aussetzen? 😉😉😉$$$

    Video finde ich gut aber das Handling des E-Auto absolut nicht , als erstes Motorhaube öffnen und Batterie trennen , warum die Schutzanzüge bei einem Brand helfen diese sowieso nicht. Beim Verbrenner wird ja auch nicht der Tank ausgebaut das dieser noch Treibstoff enthält und brennen könnte sondern aufgeladen und weg ???

    Crickey, so a simple 1car recovery now needs 3 vehicles and techs to attend and a whole pile of special kit!!
