Are We Wrong About Oxalate Sensitivity Issues

Published 2023-05-16
If you’re concerned about an oxalate sensitivity problem or creating kidney stones from consuming too many high oxalate foods, we might need to ask are we wrong about oxalate sensitivity issues. If you're trying to figure out what are oxalates or what are oxalates in food, understanding oxalate crystals and how they can form renal stones and other troubles can be important.

Instead of searching for an oxalates food list or running for the hills in fear of calcium oxalate stoners or uric acid kidney stones, it can be helpful to understand how the kidneys work and issues that can restrict the kidneys from doing their job correctly. You may also need to understand mineral absorption when it comes to dealing with oxalate overload or oxalate sensitivity issues.

You are so courageous to carve your own path...calling out those who just want to support their position, and not really concerned about their audience/patients.
  • It's interesting to note that some of the classic dishes in various cuisines combine foods high in oxalates with those high in minerals (calcium or magnesium), such as spinach and ricotta, tomato and mozzarella, sag paneer, or eggs Benedict.
  • @audrey3042
You do an amazing job of looking upstream to find the root cause rather than simply eliminating categories of food downstream to solve digestive issues 👍
  • i like this video and i would love to see a conversation between you and Sally K Norton on this issue. the problem with what you're saying is that it doesn't address the problem of a body already loaded with oxalates. i've dumped enough oxalates to know the value of eating low-oxalate. however, what you're talking about could also be incredibly helpful in dealing with my situations. i certainly know i have liver/gallbladder issues. you also don't address things like Roundup and the lack of seasonality of our eating patterns. a main component of Roundup is oxalic acid, so if you're not eating organically or avoiding most plant foods you might be getting inundated with oxalates given that they're spraying that garbage on everything now and in increasing amounts cuz it no longer works as well. and the glyphosate in it is antibiotic--our guts don't stand a chance.

The thing you have to understand with oxalates is they need minerals to survive. I grew up on a farm...and farmers know that if the soil doesn't have proper calcium, the plants will not grow and survive. Calcium is needed for the plants to uptake the nutrients from the soil, which is why oxalates bind to calcium. Since oxalates bind to minerals in the plants, you gotta ask, are we really getting minerals from any plant foods, or at least not what we think we are getting? Because oxalates bind to the minerals in the plants, are minerals really bio-available? Oxalates (and other plant anti-nutrients) are the plant defenses to survive. Oxalates are the worst of the plant defenses. Oxalates not only bind to calcium in the soil, but once we eat them, especially high oxalate foods, they rob calcium from our bodies, like our bones, teeth, our whole skeletal system. Oxalates will bind to any mineral, but they especially love calcium, magnesium, potassium. With all this plant eating that the FDA has pushed for years and years, you gotta wonder if this isn't partly the cause of 80% of the population being magnesium deficient. Plant oxalates have been used in manufacturing for ages. They use oxalates to clean heavy machinery. And, Bar Keepers Friend is made from oxalates. That's why women who use Bar Keepers Friend a lot, without wearing gloves, end up with crippled looking fingers...oxalates. Considering oxalates under the microscope look like chards of glass, or like eating asbestos, I think you are missing the damage that oxalates can cause. The body cannot dissolve something that is like glass. I have personally felt a hard pointy object poking out of my top gum...and now know that lemon dissolves oxalates, which is exactly how I dissolve it, before it leads into a full fledge not fun hurting, until my body can rid itself of what it's trying to get rid of. I've talked to people who said they felt like they were walking on glass. Stopped eating all the beans they were eating and within days could walk normal again. I've also been told a daughter saw an oxalate piercing the skin of her mother's back, as she was wondering what she was feeling. All you have to do is search for pics of oxalates. It's not just oxalate sensitivities, it's the fact the body cannot digest or dissolve oxalates. They are like chards of glass. Eye grit in the morning is oxalates. Tartar is oxalates. Our bodies cannot keep up with the over-abundance of high oxalate foods we are eating. Grains, alone, are a staple of the American diet, which are super high in oxalates, as well as gluten-free grains. There are studies done connecting oxalates to heart disease and cancers. Fibroids in the uterus and/or breasts of women are oxalates. I know that for a fact, when a friend, now a client, told me she was eating a whole bunch of celery (the whole thing wrapped with a rubberband) every day, for a looong time. She had uterine fibroids and the doctors wanted her to have a hysterectomy, but she kept putting them off. She saw a post I did on FB about oxalates and messaged me. I about died when I heard how much celery she was eating EVERY day, because of that darn Medical Medium and his celery juicing. She immediately stopped...and was feeling better within days. I've eaten a CV diet for 4 1/2 yrs. Last year, 3 yrs into CV, at age 68, my allergies of 48yrs disappeared. About a month later I had a wicked oxalate dumping from my lungs. A little scary, but once on the other side, I felt amazing! Now I know my allergies were caused by oxalates storing in my lungs. When you eat an overabundance of oxalates, what your body can't get rid of, it stores them in your organs, or wherever your body can find to store them. And it will not release them until it feels it is safe, because releasing too many at once, as you can imagine, glass chards floating thru the bloodstream is a heart attack waiting to happen. Just found your channel. You have some great information. If you do interviews, you should think about interviewing Sally Norton, maybe picking up her book "Toxic Superfoods," so you better understand oxalates. She has 58 pages of research notes. She has helped thousands of people finally realize why they are so sick...and got their life back.😊 BTW, did you know that over consumption of oxalates cause hiccups? In rat studies with oxalates, right before the rats died they had hiccups.
  • Totally agree with everything you’ve said! Going on a low oxalate diet won’t FIX your issues as much as some groups would make you think that that’s all it takes. I’m taking an HTMA test as I believe I have tissue calcification ( from high copper and heavy metals) and Candida. I’ve heard Candida can actually create Oxalates, as you mentioned. And my gut health is poor, I can identify with the bile issues, stomach acid issues, etc. It’s all connected! I think that some people think it’s a life sentence in dealing with Oxalates….and I don’t think that’s the case at all. Great video!
  • @ceptember.
Wow! This video sums up proper digestive process the best! I love this man <3
  • @tevatev7454
I really love your perspectives, and approach to everything you’re doing for digestive and gut health. You make it very clear, very simple and I can also tell you have a great sense of humor. Every time I hear you announce your book, “kick your fat in the nuts.” I just laugh out loud every time. 😂 can you talk about pooping like a champion. Lol I want to assume that you’re a Capricorn? But anyway seriously this is one of the more lighthearted, but clear and simple and logical approaches to oxalates I’ve ever heard because everyone else I’ve watched kind of has made me scared of oxalates. I do have some digestive stuff going on, I’m still not very clear what’s happening. I’ve developed food sensitivities everything besides meat and eggs. It’s the only thing my body seems to be able to appropriately improperly break down right now. I suspect I develop leaky gut, and some deficiencies with my absorption, I’ve lost weight I’ve had diarrhea for like eight months, and they just found a CDF infection, and they gave me antibiotics… I wish I could see someone like you in person. Because right now I am having a treat myself because I feel like these doctors don’t really know what they’re doing and they don’t know what they’re doing either. So right now I am just taking HCL with each mill, trying to make sure that I do have enough acid in my stomach and taking some oxy to make sure that the front and the back and are working while before I start working on the rest of it. I am considering an element diet to hopefully wipe out the Sebo once and for all, there’s there’s no doubt about it I I definitely have Sebo, I’m bloated like crazy, I’ve gone between either constipated or diarrhea, which has a very foul smell. It certain times I just feel like my food is literally not moving. I take colostrum in the morning, I drink bone broth before I add breakfast I take HCL with each meal just one bite into it. take digestive enzymes after I have finished my food and wait sometime afterwards until I take axle. And at night I am taking butyrate but before I have that I have homemade natural lemon and ginger water that I make. I don’t heat it up I just let it soak for about an hour or two I’m afraid to take any more antibiotics and I probably shouldn’t be but I am taking a probiotic because unfortunately, but honestly as a woman whatever is going on in my G.I. track is messing up my vaginal pH and when I don’t take the probiotics, I am left with a very strong scent that I have never dealt with before in my life and it’s chronic I can’t get rid of it. It’s not BV but I’ve noticed that when I start taking the probiotics, it goes away, and when I stay taking them, everything is just fine and regular but if I miss even a day or two of my probiotics, the smell comes right back
  • @DeaconBean
❤❤🎉🎉😊😊 thank you! Great episode. So helpful!
  • @aristotlev
Love the channel man. Can you please make a video on candida?
  • What you present shows that all our body’s systems are connected. Low stomach acid and low bile after gallbladder removal probably have now resulted in my kidney stones and recent Stage 3 chronic kidney disease diagnosis.
  • @danmarquez3971
This makes complete sense! Wow! The pale doodoo, the kidney stones, etc. were fixed with vegan Bentaine HCL and digestive enzymes. My friend can even eat bean burritos w/o the extreme gas. Thank you!!
  • @debbiec6216
TC ....I wasn't confused, I understood what you had said. I like it the way you explain it because , you speak in Layman Term for the general public can understand. I have my questions below because I am curious too. it's not like I'm not doing anything , I am on here daily , researching trying to heal my body, but it's taking to long for the last 3 years. It's one health problem to another health problem and honesty, the doctors aren't helpful (especially the GI doctors). In my own opinion.
  • @Boojerella
Yup! Massive Oxalate Issues. Poor stomach acid. Sludgy gallbladder. Stool often gree, which I’ve learned here means there’s no sizzle from low levels of stomach acid. I’ve assumed that if I eat a fatty meal, the Calcium in my diet/supplement is binding with the fat leaving oxalate free to accumulate in liver, causing more sludgy bile, etc. Sulphate peed out as it exchanges for the elevated oxalate levels, and detox is impaired.
