Good work as always. Clarification text for those tl;dw people: Skill Power Modifier is only really useful on very low skill percentages which you see in the descendant screen. Enzo's turret skill, Blair's fires, etc., because they do a very low percentage of damage. For EVERYTHING ELSE, you're straight up ADDING a 12% modifier to something like 400% damage, or 1200% damage, or 11000% damage (so 412%, 1212%, and 11012% respectively). ALL of those are based off of your Skill Power, which is the big number on your reactor. The 8% Skill Power is an increase of 8% on that 11k (after all the multipliers, like having a matching weapon equipped, or using a type of skill that matches the reactor's bonuses). With no bonuses, you're looking at an 8.1% increase on 11060.96 (895.93776 bonus damage, or 11956.89 total) which will be increased by (in Viessa's Frost Shards case) 803.6% (so 96085 total damage), or 11060.96 flat, increased by 816.3% (90290 total). ---------------- Skill Power Modifier bad for high skill percents. Skill Power good for high skill percents.

Nice, you could make a mini-series like that, mod Vs, or something like that. Where you pit two mods against each other or class of mods, then explain where each has a use, if any. Also really hope to see you look into healing scaling, I have been trying to figure out how Yujin works, and it seems his skills just don't scale with anything but "HP heal" stats.

thank you for your explanations magic mathematician man
  • Thank you for the video, I like learning from you and appreciate your work!

It's simple, if modifier is below 100, modifier increase is more beneficial than skill power increase. specifically at 100 they are equal in benefit. Say 1000 skill power. a 100% modifier skill will do 1000 damage. a 110% modifier skill would do 1100 damage. A +10% skill power would give you 1100 skill power, making your 100% modifier skill do 1100 damage. After you go over 100% modifier, skill power increase is better. If an ability has 200% skill power modifier and you add 10% you get 210% modifier, a 5% overall increase. If you add 10% skill power, you get 220% power, a overall 10% increase. Again, simply if skill power modifier is below 100%, you get more from adding modifier. If it's at 100% it doesn't matter. If it's over 100%, skill power increase matters more. To clarify, if you are at 95% skill power modifier, adding 10% modifier would still be better than 10% skill power even though your modifier goes over 100%. What matters is how much modifier you have when you are adding more, not where it ends up. Do you have below 100% modifier? Add modifier.
  • Thank you man, ive been debating that exact question the past 2 days, but i am really really bad with math and always forget what is better, so its really nice to have this video i can just go back and recheck, thank you for your work

addressing the intro - why are those other modules there? - while at rank 0 they do give less benefit and a drawback. Howewer at max rank Shield Conversion(Def) grants +166.8% def at a cost of 36.5%shield so that's a big difference from your +89.8% def on Spear and shield. It also costs nothing while equipped on Gley who has 0 Shields. For Gley Shield Conversion(Def) is actually a better Increased Def (166,8 as opposed to 160,4)

Thanks for your work, its realy insane good and helpfull. The only thing lacking is that those information would take literaly 5 sec to get with a visual sheet. Videos are cool to dive more into explanations and all but a written (picture) recap would be insane especialy because its impossible to remember everything, and going back to scrolling into hours of videos is way too much. So yeah a small thing to consider, thanks again for sharing informations

the more people learn the difference between skill power and skill power modifier the better but can we talk about the "Master" Descendant mods? I have never seen a build posted with one. They all seem to give 44 Skill Power and then 19 additional power of whatever attribute you selected. How does this compare to the blue variant that is just a flat 81of the attribute? If it's worse, then why it in the game?
  • Shield Conversion(DEF) at max rank, gives 166% Defense BTW, almost double of Spear and Shield, for someone like me that doesn't use Shield at all is worth it. But I was always curious about Spear and Shield vs Iron Defense! Love your videos!
  • Most of the time I will use Skill power, as the number is so low and I will normally have enough SPM if the Descendant needs it so I would get more out of power SP alone anyway.
  • Are you planning on doing a showcase of your perforator build when it is done? I think myself and many other’s are interested in seeing a built one in action.
  • @EcchiRevenge
Enzo ult turret would do okay with skill power modifier too(remember it can be applied to everyone on team, meaning x4 damage if allies aren't looking away/too far from colossus). That's assuming you didn't make it do 0 damage.
  • @Gian151pk
Literally tested this on bunny yesterday, been running iron defense for a while and randomly tried spear and shield and my damage went up a good ammount to my surprise
  • @Tiduspeco
I'd love to see a video of how the stats in weapon readjustment because looking at the weapon with F1 and looking at the weapon under the modules menu are vastly different. I'd love to know how things like crit rate/damage and weak point damage actually work when rolled on weapon readjustment
  • @kohaku86
Hope this isn't taken the wrong way, but you sound tired, hope you're getting good sleep! great video breakdown for the mods though :elbowcough:
