I know this is most likely about a failed romantic relationship but I heard this song randomly as I was driving home from the hospital when my brother died a week ago. He battled a long term illness and I stayed up all night with him until he took his last breath. He was young. I listen to this now and all I can think about is him, my deep love for him and my profound loss. This song is so incredibly impactful. Thank you Stevie 🙏🏽❤️

One of the most beautiful breakup songs ever written, and sung with such emotion by Stevie.
  • Something about the way she sings "I have always been a storm" resonates so much with me... it's heartbreaking

Stevie's songs are the best on Tusk. Nothing holds a candle to this, sisters of the moon, Sara, and beautiful child.
  • I believe this is the most beautiful song Stevie ever wrote! So melancholy, beautiful and ethereal. It can really take you away.

This song really fucking helps when you’re sad…

"I have always been a storm" My whole life in a line.

I’m upset that it took this long in life to hear this song. Remarkable.

The hardest breakups are the ones you wanted and for nothing more than timing they end...the ones that could have been...

Silver Springs was frustrated, angry. A call for the lover to answer why?? To come back, to have some sort of closure, to do anything. Or to not come back, and be cursed forever to hear her voice. But Storms is... sad. A melancholic, haunting song. There's nothing left to say, no closure needed, there's just pain and hoping that the grief lasts for a short time. The difference between both songs is very clear but i love them both, i feel like they both represent two different periods of loss in a breakup: the anger, and the sadness.
  • “ we were frail “. Always sticks with me as a classic line. This is a hauntingly beautiful song xx

I love every song on the Tusk album. I was a senior in high school when it originally released in 1979, and I still remember every word to each song. This song particularly resonated with my young soul then and with my much older, wiser soul now.

doesn't get any better than this

Pure 100% gold! "Is there anything left to say"?

I cry to this song almost every time I hear this because it reminds me of myself. It's really sad tbh but a beautiful song
  • there's always that one line in a song that hits you and I guess its different for everybody anyway. but for me "I've loved you from the start" takes me away to another place
