At 64, this takes me back to a much simpler time! How I miss those days!!!!

When a song can take you back to a moment in time, you really have something special.
  • I was very young when I heard this song. I asked my dad what was Afternoon Delight, and he told me it was Banana Pudding. For years I believed him. Oh I miss my dad.

Aged 16 in 1976, laying out back in the sun listening to this wonderful song, thinking of the future with hope and excitement. WTF happened lol.

I saw them in 1976 open for John Denver at the Cow Palace in SF. Before they performed this song (which was just starting to get airplay) one of the female vocalists explained that the title came from a menu they had seen when they were on tour a year before. According to the story, they pulled into a greasy spoon to refuel the bus and eat lunch, and the cafe menu had a special of the day called "Afternoon Delight". She said they all had a good laugh, and ordered it, but that it wasn't very good. She continued the story to say that "that's when we decided to write a song about what Afternoon Delight could be, would be, and should be." The crowd roared. The song was playing on the radio later that night as we drove home. And the rest is history. One of the top 10 songs of that year, if not the decade.

Who else is watching this in 2020 wondering where these good feels and good times have gone?
  • Just love this song. Impossible to hear it without evoking a wonderful childhood in the 70's. Goosebumps tears the lot! Even at 62. Thank you SVB.

This was the best of times. The 1976 bicentennial was special. Very patriotic times. Every town had a parade or celebration.
  • In a way this makes me sad. I am a kid of the ‘70’s. When I watch this video it reminds me of a time that was pretty cool. The culture back then was laid back and humble. Living in today’s America doesn’t resemble or feel the same way, and anyone younger wouldn’t have the slightest idea what I’m talking about. Now I’m bald and gray where I do have hair, lol. These times in the video are long gone and never to return. It’s just the progression of things, really. I’m glad I lived back then, but also bummed that it’s only in my memory.

Sad to see America nearly gone in 2020...at least I have my memories of the 70's and 80's

This song sounds like summer in the 70s. Life was so simple and everyone was having a good time.

Oh man it takes me back to a time when everything was just so peaceful and the music was so great............
  • Ahhhh the summer of 76, wish I had a time machine just to go back for a day, 14 years old and not a care in the world.
  • @Good-Enough24
