In my opinion, Issa Rae responded the way she did because SHE is the one who don't like Amanda, and she used her publicist to do her dirty work.

"I think people are going to show up for me the way I've shown up for them" - felt that.

Amanda said something key , she said when you’re sure of yourself people feel small and have issues with you. I never understood why trouble seemed to always find me even when I stayed to myself. People do not like when you do not need or seek validation and find contentment in who God made you to be. I wish I could tell her I see her and how much we value her in our community. She’s too real for the community she is in💛

Always remember the story with Oprah Winfrey and Whoppi Goldberg. For years they didn't speak. They happened to be at the same function. Whoppi went and sought Oprah out at the event and Whoopi asked her, "Did I do something to you, did I say something that offended you?" Oprah was shocked and said to Whoppi, " No, I was told you had a problem with ME!" They are friends now and a lesson was learnt. Put rumors aside and speak to the person directly.

Definitely gives a strong impression that Issa doesn’t like Amanda. They were both employees of Issa. There is no way the publicist should have had that much leverage to harass Amanda to that level, with zero repercussions.

I use to expect people to treat me like I treated them. I’m older now and I have made PEACE with the fact that MOST people disappoint me and I just smile when I’m WRONG

I agree that she comes off very sure of herself and confident so people want to cut her down, soften her up. She is who she is. Good for her 👏🏽

She made valid points. She is a woman who thinks and speaks for herself. She knows her family history. I hope she can continue to produce and write for herself and others.

Amanda's experience is a great example of when you keep going to spaces that do not value you. Spaces that do not value you will always make you come across as the smallest version of yourself. I hope she finds spaces that value her fully.

I can totally relate to how Amanda feels. Her light is intimidating to those who feel insecure within themselves. Her tribe will embrace her energy, but most people live in a false reality, and despise the truth because the truth requires people to keep it real with themselves. Everyone isn’t ready to deal with the truth. When real energy hits the scene, people who can’t deal with reality will be offended and do everything possible to take out the “threat”. Her energy is the threat which is why people tell her she needs to change. They want HER to change so that THEY can feel comfortable.

You can't convince me that issa Rae didn't put her publicist up to it or co-signed it. When you're in leadership you either make it happen or allow it to happen

this makes me so sad. For Issa to say "this between yall" but then allow her staff member to ban Amanda from a party which in the entertainment industry is an extension of work. This is so sad bc both you and Issa are amazing women. this shouldn't have happened. So sorry this happened to you Amanda.😔💛
