On Utube see General Eisenhower address the cadets at their passing out parade 1943. Well worth the time. Never knew fang extractors were commissioned in the army !!

The title of this video is unhelpful. To be clear, this is a passing-out parade for Professionally Qualified Officers (PQO) who have completed a short 8 week course to induct them into the Army as Officers, after they have previously qualified as Doctors, Nurses, Dentists, Vets, Lawyers, etc. So there is very little training in drill, and standards cannot be compared with the 44 week course for Regular Officers, which culminates in the well-known Sovereign's Parade.

I love the officer's horse here. Everyone is at attention, and so is he. Just as well drilled as the troops he parades for.

So the maroon cap band is veterinary or medical corps, green cap band is dental corps, purple is the chaplain's corps, black appears to be pay corps, red with a grey stripe is Nursing. So these are the staff. The grey banded education corps is missing. Along with a few others.

At other passing out parades for commissioning course short there are much more awards, sword for best reservist regular, foreigner, etc. Does anyone know why this isnt the case here?

I served with 45 Medium RA in BAOR in the 70’s.Back then the squaddies marched in step and straight lines or the RSM would have their bums.

I'm not British so fill me in please... If the officers in the khakis are just bring commissioned, how come they don't all wear a single pip, as 2nd lieutenants? Looks like some of them are captains etc. Is that automatic if you're a padre or whatever?
