Jefferson Starship is an American rock band formed in the early 1970s by several members of the former psychedelic rock group Jefferson Airplane. The band has undergone several major changes in personnel and genres through the years while retaining the same Jefferson Starship name. The current Jefferson Starship, led by co-founder Paul Kantner, more closely resembles its original mix of psychedelic and electric folk music than the pop-driven tunes it was widely known for in the early to mid-1980s. It is not to be confused with Starship, a spin-off of the group featuring former co-lead singer Mickey Thomas that also periodically tours. The latter group is most frequently identified with the 1980s pop tunes of Jefferson Starship.

I was there for this. I’m 81 and it still sets me off. I fell in love with Grace.
  • Absolutely the best version ever. And that long solo lead in by Craig. You just can’t get tired of listening.

cannot believe this was nearly 50 years ago. agreed, I'm 78 and I remember this well.

Almost 50 years later this is still one of the best versions out there. The intro guitar is simply hypnotic. I can picture Carlos Santana and Paco DeLucia doing a duet in this song.

I just don’t love this version of the song...I NEED it...I have to listen to this regularly...it’s like meditation for me...Craig absolutely transforms this classic Airplane song...that iconic intro by Jorma...and he totally makes it his own...you can tell how much Grace is digging it...what a feeling...speechless.

That '57 Les Paul sounds amazing, such a beautiful tone. I bet they didn't use backing tracks back then either, pure music. Such a wonderful time to watch live music.
  • Was lucky enough to see this live front row at Universal Amphitheater..and seeing Grace kick a bag of mushrooms off the stage..one night I'll never forget..

This is the best version of this song!
  • He went on trip and made sweet music along the way. Grace managed to talk him back down eventually. Love this video and always come back to it.

Love how the solo just keeps going, Craig could jam over that vamp for days...some really interesting playing in there and the wild pitch bends are awesome. Great solo.

I was in Berkeley 1976. First part Country Joe Mac Donald. One of the best moment in my life. Drum solo fantastic half hour long. So good.
  • Please someone get this 73 year old woman a time machine - or a magic carpet would do just fine ..... I desperately need something to take me back ✌ ❤

I wish I could be this high and still be lucid. Grace Slick is a treasure! :-)
