You're too modest Scout. You didn't "get lucky" that the player base exploded around that time. You helped create that growing player base. Your content is what made me aware of the scene back then. I'm not going to say you're single handedly responsible, or anything. But you've definitely had a hand in shaping the scene as it exists now. Thank you

To put Sidnev's transition score record into context: the highest possible transition score (not counting points by holding Down) is 754360 (32 Tetrises at Level 18 worth 22800 each, 1 Single at Level 19 worth 760, 1 Tetris at 129 lines which is scored as being at Level 19 for 24000). To get that high a score needs 31 out of a possible 33 Tetrises, which is an intense level of stacking consistency (and a measure of luck) needed to pull off.

Sad I missed the last month of my hosted events. That was when my mental health was at its worst. However, it's good to know that of each era, I did the second best job, so I feel a little less bad about it now. Thanks for the video. This was a fantastic watch, and you are an absolute blessing to the classic Tetris community. Thank you, scoutface! :D

truly a colossal effort on all fronts, i'm so excited to see this all come together, and i'm equally excited to see what we'll discover from here. also really appreciate the marfram shoutouts, he is a super cool guy and the work he does usually flies under the radar.

I love that instead of a "Line cap" the end result was to mod the game to produce a "SUPER KILLSCREEN" instead.
  • @Remainings
not biased at all but i think this is your best video yet :face-blue-smiling::face-green-smiling::face-fuchsia-wide-eyes::cat-orange-whistling::trophy-yellow-smiling::trophy-yellow-smiling:

I just finished Secret Base's Minnesota Vikings video series this weekend, and a running theme through all their Dorktown/Chart Party videos is the availability of statistics across history which lets us discover and tell stories. Thanks to you and everyone involved with building this archive--it's important and will help preserve history!

I don't mean to be hyperbolic but I think this might be my favorite tetris video ever. I felt emotional during the recap of vods lost, and then the stats blew me away. I'm so glad you took the helm on this and Marfram came to help. I hope you guys can incorporate all the other tetris games out there one day!

MFW I started something amazing with Tetris data 5 years ago... :D
  • @mbvglider
34:15 When that Summoning Salt music kicks in, I got so pumped.
  • @Zekiraeth
Archivists are some of the most admirable people in the world. So much of what we know about history is thanks to a few people deciding to preserve seemingly unimportant information. Huge respect to everyone involved in this project.
  • @zunaidparker
That needle drop of "Home" right at the end hit me solidly in the feels. Brilliant video, the first one I've watched on your channel ever thanks to the algorithm. This was amazing, well done!
  • @Bibe35
Literally sat down to watch this and just realized it had been uploaded a minute ago! Great job on the database, data collection is super interesting. Honestly, your videos is what keeps me coming back to tetris.
  • @SamTheS
This video was an absolute joy to watch. I cannot comprehend the amount of hours you put in into making this a reality is truly incredible. I could also just feel the passion you brought just by the way you spoke. This might just be my favorite video of you. Even over your expierence at ctwc 2018, 2019, the ctwc explained… despite the nostalgia and how those projects were also just top tier, this video just felt on another level. Absolutely stunning work, Scout.
  • @joshworthy9756
Scout has finally finished his Tetris Magnum Opus! Congrats and good on you to give some much insight on not only the scores achieved, but the people who helped make these histories happen behind the scenes. (Also, when "We're Finally Landing" by Home played...I popped so hard! Horray for Royalty Free Music...Vandy is smiling somewhere.)
  • @jakel7213
Man I am so grateful for you lol. I discovered NES Tetris because of your CTWC explained video, and I have been part of this amazing community for almost 4 years now. This is by far the most involved in an online community, and I absolutely love it. And the fact that you keep contributing to and improving it just makes me smile.
  • @Determinor
As someone who likes watching Classic Tetris and occasionally play it, thanks so much for your hard work, your videos are what got me started playing it.
  • @Thunderstorm281
Utterly amazed at all the work put into the database and presenting some of it in this video. Thanks for all your dedication to archiving all the CTM stats Scout, Marfram, and everyone else who contributed!
  • @tytris
Easily my favorite video that you've ever posted. I knew the database took a lot of work, but I never realized how much it seriously took. You, Marfram, Hydrant, and everyone else involved KILLED IT. This community is lucky to have such dedicated people like y'all in it.
