This song proves what goes around comes around. Stefan betrayed Maleficent so he could be King but what he never thought was the wicked thing he did to poor Maleficent would exactly happen to his own grand daughter. I hope he at least realizes how it feels to be betrayed and how painful it is when you backstab someone who trusts you more than anything. We all thought Mal was the one who would be singing this song but no baby now the tables have turned and she holds the key!

I love how her desire evolves, at first, she calls herself the queen, then, as darkness tempts her, she is scared by the fact that it tells her to be the queen of mean. But then, as she embraces it, she ultimately changes her mind and instead is delighted by this title.

I got chills at the "nothing to lose" line. Because it's 100% true. People do feel that way.

Listening to it 3 years later the lyrics just hit a bit differently now understand what she went through, and how she wasn't always the villain. Her actions are justified because she had her whole life set up and she had to watch it crumble. All because Mal really stole her man and she never got an apology until the last movie and all of society left her behind and didn't care. Mal was a victim but she wasn't all that innocent. So I am happy that in Descendants 3 she got that closure she needed.

I’m having the distinct thought that newer Disney fans have heard this song from that Chibiverse short and are like “I NEED TO FIND THAT SONG RIGHT NOW” and they discovered what it was and are now enjoying this magnificent piece. All respect to them for making that discovery:)
