I'm into Linux for maybe 2 years now. What I know I learned during the pandemic shutdown. I have tried a bunch of distros in VMs. I decided that I prefer Arch and Arch-based distros. I recently gave NixOS a try and I have to say I love it. I love that I can rollback to a previous generation if something goes wrong. I will keep NixOS around for a while.

Looks like you’re on your way! FYI, Guix is NixOS more for people who want to use Lisp instead of Nix-the-language.

Trash-cli is just the recycle bin for command lines. If you delete something from the command prompt, it goes to the trash-cli instead of permanently removing it.

i have a pc and few laptops hanging around. i wanted to use NixOS on all of them but i'm lost. your vid inspired me on how to approach this. although i'm still lost lol. but i'll get there eventually XD

Hello, starting in linux. Which desktop theme are you using? Like it a lot, specially icons on the top.

Guix is FSF approved, programs like Firefox do not use the gpl and are excluded. How did you learn how to setup flakes. I used NixOS like 6 months but didn't figure out any of the advanced features

Very interesting video, thanks. I also switched from EndeavourOS to NixOS about a week ago. However, to be honest, I'm not sure if I'm enjoying it. After spending a whole week making tweaks here and there with the configuration.nix file, now a simple 'sudo nixos-rebuild switch' takes over 20 minutes to complete. You got any idea why ?
