clipped wings
i adore your words, worship your false confessions
my devotion sings like a thunderstorm in march
in another life, i repeat, i repent, i rock myself to sleep
my prayers are pearls wrapped around my finger
threaded by white nights & secret wishes
staring at your clipped wings, my sweet stranger
i cut mine off and cling to your cursed Earth
once wild children,
we ran barefoot every friday’s eve
hidden from sorrow’s kiss
spirited in limerence & red lips
at low tide, we held hands afire
now,
stars cast shadows on our crusade
our flag captive to the seabed
your face etched onto my eyelids
gazing at the empty skies,
i curse the deathtrap i vowed as my return
