That sucks. I have the 992 as well. Over 1000 LRs and 400 mags through it. Only problem I had was when I first brought it to the range. LR cylinder was a bit sticky, the hammer wouldn't come back on 1 of the chambers. Loosened up after about 100 rounds. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that that is the only problem I have with it.

I have a Taurus 992 tracker and have carried it in the woods while hunting hogs or deer. I am very happy with this revolver. I've never had any issues with it at all. I have used it for plinking and small game. It shoots the federal 50 grains fine and it is dead on target.

Taurus is great, I can tell you. I own a 608 model, 6.5 inches stainless steel. It has seen 2000+ 357 magnum shots and still looks/fuctions like brand new. So, there may be slight hit and miss for quality control, but if you got a quality made Taurus, then you practically got a S&W for a fraction of its cost. I own a 686-5 as well and I can't tell any difference in quality, really.

Excellent review! I'm in the market for a .22 revolver. Thank you for sharing your experiences.

Had a similar issue with the Taurus 992 I just picked up. Got a scratch on the barrel and didn't notice it until I had already transferred it and was filming it doing a table top review.

I've got a .357mag tracker and it's fine. There are plenty of lemons from just about every gun manufacturer.
  • 2 Pt 92s PT 945 94b- 817- Rossi M 33- have had TCP in .380 & PT 111 mil-pro in 9 mm.....Only regret letting the mil pro go...needed the scratch... Have had no issues with any of them Of course I can not afford new guns so I buy used...Which means great guys like you have already worked out or factory repaired the bugs for me....One year at Christmas I got a NEW Smith & Wesson M&P 9 mm that keep falling apart on me....I traded straight out for the PT 945.....Have no complaints.....

I had a 605 Poly Protector 357 magnum. The trigger was excellent in both single & double action, then after about 100 rounds,it wouldn't work in double action.I sent it in & it was back to me fixed in 11 working days.Everything worked properly but that original sweet trigger action was gone, they had replaced the entire trigger assembley, springs & all.It just wasn't the same.I traded it in a week later.Lost my ass big time on that one.
  • I'm just about to order one of this 22, this is a great idea to look for

I've had 2 smith wessons scandium the timing was off on both a bushmaster and rock river that jammed constantly pretty crazy I bought all them new
  • I have a Ruger GP100 22 LR 10 round revolver and it has three points of support of the cylinder, whereas the S&W and Taurus does not.

There’s a reason Taurus comes with a Lifetime Warranty. Your gonna need it.

Guess not a lot of people post comments to your video cause I posted 2 months ago and my comment was still listed at the top of your video as most recent.  Just a recap on my experience with my 992.  Bought it in Jun on the 17th, took it out to fire it on the 18th.  Found the .22LR cylinder was jamming up, could fire maybe 5 or 6 rounds and it would jam.  Wouldn’t rotate in double action, had to fire single action and rotate the cylinder with my thumb as I cocked the trigger.  Talked to the gun smith at the range who said if I fired a few 100 rounds through it, the cylinder would loosen up and it would act better.  I fired about 1000 rounds through the gun over the next few weeks and there was no change. So in the beginning of July I sent it in for repair to Taurus, who did honor their life time warranty without any problems even paid for the shipping.  6 weeks later I received it back, took it out to shoot it and after about 200 rounds it started acting up again, I couldn’t fire it double action and even single action it again wouldn’t allow the cylinder to rotate.  So again, next day it was back in the mail to Taurus for repair, again they are paying for the shipping.  Received it back from Taurus yesterday, opened the box to find my rear sight back plate has been busted off.  I call Taurus to report this and the guy tells me he is sending me out a replacement rear sight……….  This is all great, but seriously, I have owned this gun for 2 ½ months and have only shoot it a few weeks and that’s only because I delayed in sending it in once I found the problem, if not for that I wouldn’t have shoot it very much…….Now with that being said, I will say I loved firing it when I was able, it is a fun gun to fire and am looking forward to getting it working 100%, and taking it out to fire some more rounds through it…………hope you are not having any more problems with your gun.

Can't speak for others but I currently own Taurus revolvers model 990, 992, 66, 94, & 905. Alll except the 905 are in stainless, have thousands of rounds through them and have performed flawlessly since I bought them new (66 was used),  I shoot them often. Lucky I guess, but I do clean them perhaps more often than I should, perform basic maintenance, regularly use a lead-free cloth to clean the front face of the cylinders and breech combing and experience 0 problems. I am a little OCD with my revolvers though.
  • @300zxdriver
I have one with 4 inch barrel no problems yet. I only shoot it in single action. It is very accurate.
  • @iZHarms
Great video really enjoyed it. I've been really looking into picking up the 992. I had a quick question for you. Whats the pros and cons with mag rounds vs long rifle rounds?
  • @1digitalwatcher
You did a thorough job at putting red flag's up about Taurus think of how many people you saved from buying this dual conversion 22 piece of pure depression.
